I can tell you this. I felt far more safe when Clinton was President

Being a deist I probably shouldn't get into this debate, but I just
can't resist pointing out what a STUPID argument that is for the
existence of God. We lack more advanced technology, therefore there is
a god?! I mean, come on! We've got several things being researched
now that could resonably end up with scientests being able to create
animals from scratch, assembling them molecule by molecule. For
anything much less impressive than that we've already got it.
Doctors REGULARLY save people who a hundred years ago would have been
considered well and thouraly dead, essentially bringing them back to
life. Look up "near death experience" on the web and you'll find out
just how "near" those experiences can be. So, just off hand, I would
say that's a big 'old "CHECK" on breathing life into the dead. Give us
another century and we'll start creating and breathing life into
engineered animals. Sure, christians will call it an abomination, but
almost all advancement, be it in science or whatever, has been called
an abomination by christians, so why should anyone reasonable care?

I can respect that. An awful lot of argument for religion is based on a
leap from ignorance to, therefore, religion. It's easy to look back 4000
years and say, "Boy, those people were ignorant." Not so easy to imagine
4000 years from now when people will look back on us and say, "Boy, those
people were ignorant."
Far from fire-breathing hubris, I think you will find a strong vein of
humility before our still-overwhelming ignorance in a lot of atheists.

"Naturally, the common people don't want war;
neither in Russia nor in England nor in America,
nor for that matter in Germany.
That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders
of the country who determine the policy and
it is always a simple matter to drag the people
along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist
dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist
dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can
always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.
That is easy. All you have to do is tell them
they are being attacked and denounce the
pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing
the country to danger. It works the same way
in any country."
