The use that Stalin made of the knowledge has no bearing on its
truthfulness. Moreover, I suspect there have been many more leaders
(such as the Pope, maybe?) who have believed in evolution, yet did not
commit genocide, which undermines any cause/effect relationship.
My view is that the accusation deserves 2 or 3 lines in response; any
more than that looks weak, and gives the opposition a chance to exploit
any factual errors.
Unfortunatly, a "so what" response to the accusation is insufficient at
times. The more completely debunked a claim, the better.
