Well, no, actually there are 613 Commandments in the original "Old
Testament". Latter day Christians adopted the so-called "Ten
Commandments" from the Hebrew text,
Modern christians had a hard time counting above 10, much less
remembering all 613 commandments.
"Aseret Ha-Dibrot" which
literally translated means, "The Ten Statements". "The Ten
Commandments" in Hebrew would be, "Aseret Ha-Mitzvot". In the
original Hebrew, the first so-called "commandment" would be
translated into modern English as: "I am the Lord, your God, who
brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage
