Interesting viewpoint....
I was long ago, a Combat Medic (91b10), a profession not noted for
being
adverse to personal danger in the service of others...
I came back to the states and worked for a time in mountain rescue,
dangling on cable from perfectly good helocoptors, again in service to
others...
I later worked for 13 years as a firefighter...
I was then, an atheist, and an atheist I remain.
The assertions made, don't fit the (admitedly) annecdotal evidence.

Glad to hear something positive for a change. At least I assume you
are
not down on others who stick to their principles / ideals to the death
like
Christ, and who advocate we do the same.
Hmmm...so you don't have a problem with the mass sucicide of Applewhite and
the Heaven's Gate cult right?

I see. To you sticking to your principles and ideals to the death, like
Christ did on the cross of Calvary, is the same as committing mass suicide?
I think you went off the rails someplace way back someplace, and haven't
quite realized it yet.

Christ in Mt:19:14: But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid
them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Christ in Lk:18:17: Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive
the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

Let's pay attention little one.
Your post above implies that you find admiration in those who would die for
their beliefs. Thus, it should be a very safe assumption for myself and any
non-biased observer to make, that you would not have a problem with the acts
of the Heaven's Gate cult. They, after all, had a *very strong belief that,
much like christianity, is based in very little logic and a whole lot of
neurotic emotionalsim, and they were quite willing (as evidenced by their
acts) to die for it.
Now, Frank, if you *do not find their acts just as admirable and courageous
as that of Jesus, I suggest you withdraw your previous statement. If you
don't, you're picking and choosing, of course you christians excell greatly
at that sort of thing.

Jesus did NOT kill Himself, but refused to sell out to the
power-structure and cave in, something you seem to advocate. He said: Anyone
seeking to save his life by selling out his principles, will lose any life
he may have had that's worth living.
We Christians believe that, atheists don't.

Irrelevant to the point, my dear.

Where could you possibly get such an interpretation from my post?
He said: Anyone
seeking to save his life by selling out his principles, will lose any life
he may have had that's worth living.
Applewhite did not sell out his principles. He *died for them.
Thus, what's the difference?
We Christians believe that, atheists don't.
You have no idea what atheists believe, you old goat. :)

So did Koresh. That means Koresh really *was Jesus as he claimed?
