It's another common phenomenon that a "mystic" will issue lots of
predictions, which are very likely to come true. Astrology works this
way. Is this what is going on?

So far as I know, and I know more than I ever wanted to, Astrology is an
attempt to predict human behavior rather than predicting events. It does
not work very well, but its believers (a certain close family member)
rewrite their own history and their observations to conform.
In other words, to an astrologer, it works 100 percent of the time,
because that which is observed is altered to conform.
This can be done for any belief system, including yours.
The way out is to be as objective as possible, journaling experiences as
they happen and review experiences for alternative causation. Some of
these experiences will have multiple possible causation; but a few may be
so unique and distinctive as to allow a very narrow causation, all of
which you might consider supernatural. I do not; that which I consider
natural others consider supernatural.
