You don't know what the ***** you're talking about, as usual. There is no
evidence that saddam used chemical weapons that recently. His attack
against kurds in Halabja was in the late 1980's and the evidence is not
perfect that he was the one who used the chemical weapons. Some analysts
believed it could have been the Iranians. Saddam also used chemical
weapons against the Iranians on the al Fao peninsular campaign with
absolutely and unequivocal knowledge of the Reagan administration. These
sick, lying motherfuckers, Donald Rumsfeld being chief among them, helped
saddam cover up his usage from potential UN inspection, since this would
have resulted in sanctions which would have made it very difficult and/or
illegal for the US to supply weapons to Iraq.

Did You know that George was 16 befor he found out that the Pope wasn't a Baptist.
That's when he decided that if there were two religions, he must be twice as right.

But I never understood a lot of the US actions during the Iran/Iraq
war. The pretence was that it was Iraq vs Iran, yet we had warships
there, eg the Vincennes - in somebody else's war zone. Which was bound
to come under attack by one or other of the participants. People are
trigger happy - and if it's not their destroyer it's most likely the
enemy's - after all, who would be so stupid to send neutral warships
into the war zone?
So in a panic it shot down a civil airliner. Which neither even the
Iraqis not Iranians had done because that would make their own
civilians targets afterwards.
The Vincennes was playing games with Iranian ships, cutting
in and out of Iranian waters. It looks to me like trying to
provoke a response.
This started off a whole new cause and effect chain that still simmers
occasionally.
They "apologised" to Iran and said it was an accident - as though that
should have satisfied Iran. And honestly couldn't understand why Iran
didn't think that was enough. (But compare Reagan's rhetoric after the
Korean airliner was shot down in Russian airspace after it had gone
off course with an RC135 in international airspace recording the
defence radar and radio transmissions).

People aren't the issue. The issue is was there a program and materials
around when we announced that was the reason we were going to invade.

I'd bet they'd be a lot happier if the people in this

Red herring.
Does a country have a right to attack another because it disagrees with
the internal policies of the other country's government?
