Bush's daughters were all 18+ when they got nabbed with alcohol.
In South Africa that is not a crime. Anyone aged 18 or older may possess and
consume alcohol.
so it's easy to see from this simple example how silly and arbitrary laws
are.
modern society has enacted a whole host of totally ridiculous laws which
stipulate a specific age. clearly they are completely ridiculous because
what changes in a day? a person aged one day younger than 18 may not legally
consume alcohol.
any law which artificially recognises 1 day as being significant is
ridiculous.
it's therefore not possible to stipulate any ages in laws without making an
***** of the law.
we should just have ZERO laws, then we can be guaranteed that no stupid laws
will be enacted.
I'm sure he'll play on the fake ID or age angle. He lives
in LA, where marijuana is considered not only legal, but required. It's also
funny that the liberal mud slingers who've been acting like it is George's
own fault his daughters are drunk, like some sort of 'environmental' thing,
will play down that angle in Gore's son's case.
i don't care about the habits of Gore's son and Bush's daughters. Let them
smoke and drink as much as they like. it is not my business, it is theirs.
it is not society's business it is theirs.

When I was young it was 18 here as well, because my generation vigorously

well it's always been 18 here and no one needed to petition anyone.

That was never at issue here. People are far more complex and robust than
typically depicted by the media. For example, Ulysses S. Grant was a giant
on the battlefield, and an unkempt drunk at the same time. For many years,
historical analysts even tried to depict Robert E. Lee as a better general,
perhaps on no more footing than his being a "sober gentleman". Yet more
recently, military analysts have stated in no uncertain terms that Grant was
a military genius and by far the better general, drunk slob or not. On the
other hand, he made a notably mediocre President. But hold the presses
one moment. Abe Lincoln, the model of moral virtuosity and Christian
faith, was well known to tell many an off color joke, and make sarcastic
remarks about others, and a fairly reliable historical artifact records a
meeting between Grant and Lincoln, when Grant scolded Lincoln for
attempting to tell a dirty joke. Grant was known to never swear or ridicule.
Yet he took every sort of bribe that came his way while President. This
barely scratches the surface of this example, and it is the same for everyone.
I'm confident that even Mad Max has some redeeming virtue, although he
keeps it well hidden.

society is filled with individuals who act like sheep and who expect others
to want to belong to their flock.
when they realise that a person doesn't want to conform to their flock's
norms, they reject him, kill him, imprison him and / or subject him to
various persecutions.
that is human history in a nutshell.
those norms change all the time. what is wrong for one society at one time
is completely fine for another society at perhaps another time.
it's the reason why your country was founded in the first place. but it is
still subject to the same problem because the problem is internal to human
beings.
wherever humans go, they take that same problem - intolerance of those who
refuse to conform to their norms.
based on that, I have come to the conclusion that the only solution is the
extermination of the human race. i believe that humanity is going to achieve
that.
