Fools? What 'peer reviewed' group of geniuses did you submit your paper to
and got 'bi-partisan' support with? Ted Haggard's 'Magazine of Oral Roberts
and Jerry Falwell University Nobel Laureate Scientists for 'God' Who Can
Prove God Exists But Just Don't, Sorry to Say, Have the Time to Do So At the

Relax, it doesn't. Though I'm sure it annoys you when ANYBODY uses
research grants to better the knowledge of humanity; after all, less
ignorance means fewer places for your petty, insignificant version of
God to hide.

It is time to send Stephen Hawking and a few select others to
space now! The other canidates are listed below!:
http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/opinion.cfm?id=1791202006
Space: the final frontier or a great place to park our traffic wardens?
WHAT an interesting fellow is Professor Stephen Hawking. Having written
a key book on the universe, which everyone has bought but no one has
read, he is rightly regarded as an authority on all things scientific,
particularly the weird, spacey stuff.
The Prof is now of the opinion that the human race is going to have to
leave home if it wants to survive long term. He says if we don't go out
and colonise other planets then the entire species is in danger of
being wiped out by haemorrhoids, or some form of dangerous roid anyway.
As you would expect there are a few small items to be dealt with first.
The moon and all the other planets within cycling distance are
generally rubbish places to live, having no bars, restaurants, or
Christmas markets even. The nearest habitable planets are 50,000 years
away by public transport, which is a long journey even for those used
to commuting between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
So we need something like warp drive, as used by Scotty in Star Trek,
to get us to them, but unfortunately it defies the laws of science, and
so does not exist. Not to worry, the Prof says we will just to have to
travel using old-fashioned matter/antimatter annihilation instead. I
know, it's not perfect, but it will get us there in the end.
Don't get me wrong. I'm all in favour of us colonising other planets. I
just wish it would be done in a spirit of Star Trek-style optimism
rather than one of doom, gloom and disaster. I even have a list of all
the important people I think should go first - our political leaders,
management consultants, traffic wardens, all those types of folk.
Can you imagine the sense of hope that all us ordinary folk left behind
on Earth would feel as we fired our rulers off into the far reaches of
space? Truly, it would be a great day for our small planet, if not,
necessarily, the rest of the universe.

I'm guessing you come from a "red" state. If that's so, since I am in
a "blue" state, I can say with even more reason, I wish my taxes didn't
go to support those morons like Codebreaker. Why don't you lazy

Whatever...
The main gist of the recent press conference was that humanity should
set up colonies off-planet in order to ensure the survivability of the
species.. should something catastrophic happen on Earth; asteroids,
stellar gamma radiation, plagues, ..etc.
I think regular folks would call that 'insurance' - and I certainly
think that insurance is a good idea. Especially when the insured is
humanity.
We were on the moon over 30 years ago.. but never returned.
Had there been enlightened leadership after JF Kennedy we would now be
enjoying the benefits derived from colonies on the moon - and possibly
mars as well.
Ya'll can go continue to run circles in someone else's muck if you want
to, But I do believe that any viable civilization must seek ever new
horizons. It's good for the species and good for the soul.
Funding? Don't worry about it..
If the rubber stamping monkeys can fritter away one TRILLION dollars to
secure puddles of polluting dinosauer squeezins in inimical
territory... surely they can spare something to ensure the future of
mankind.

Good news, Codie: since Hawking and Dawkins are both BRITISH,
your money (do you actually pay taxes?) is not going to
underwrite their research.
All better now?

And my money should not go to fund Georgia and Alabama and
Mississippi. I am tire of the liberal Democratic Northeast funding the
South. (Guess what state has the highest average income. Guess the

they get back and get which get less.)
