In our last thrilling episode, "Atheist Crusher" <Atheist@fools.com>
was pushed over the cliffs of alt.atheism on Tue, 21 Sep 2004 20:15:35

They are so given over to immorality and confusion that they have not the
slightest clue that they are their own worst and the worlds worst enemies
as
well.
The majority of atheists that I know personally are pathetically weak and
self-indulgent monkeys that want to undermine this country, and now
thanks
to them, along with the aclu,my children can go to the library and get
porn
spam depicting vile acts between males as well as female on female via
the
anti porn act that was shot down.
Let's hear it for these sightless cretins.

It is quite obvious that you are not religious. Because if you were
religious.or more appropriately, if you had a belief in God, you'd realize
that no man can claim he knows what is in another man's heart or how that
person stands before God. Rich Tillman has an opinion about Pat's beliefs,
but only God knows Pat's heart. Similarly, I am repulsed by your rejection
of God, but when you die - regardless of what comes out of your mouth
today or even moments prior to your death, only God knows what is truly in
your heart. This is one "small" reason among many, which explains why God
is the only one fit to judge.

Atheists no more hate the non-existant god than we hate
evil Saturday morning cartoon character villians.
Its just stupid to hate nonexistant beings. No grown

Why infantile, slobbering theists like to make such

because you are thinking hard.
Perhaps it is mere infantile ignorance, or more likely,
an infantile attempt at demonization of Atheists,
sort of like writers of scripts of Saturday morning

Atheists hate and shutter at the word of God.
Atheism is a belief system that ardently denies the existence of God. God
calls the atheist a FOOL. Many atheists spend much time and effort
attempting to "disprove" that God exists. According to Romans chapter 1 they
know that He exists, but they want to control their own lives and not submit
to the Lord. They are actually rather tragic figures just like any other
unsaved individual. It is hard to live out their atheism--if they did,
they'd actually be considered crazy like O'Hair was.

God doesn't exist. How can he call an atheist a fool if he doesn't exist.

Easy,Let me explain. Cervantes wrote a book about Don Quixote a long time
ago. Don Quixote would attack windmills as if they were his enemies. Of
course a windmill is nobody's enemy. If what the atheist believes is REALLY
his belief, then he would leave people like me alone. After all, if God did
not exist, He and His followers would be no enemy to the atheist. We'd just
be deluded people. Therefore IF the atheist REALLY believes there is no God
and the fool attacks a Christian, then he has the Don Quixote Syndrome
because the Christian is not his enemy. Nevertheless, God is real and THAT
is why atheists have all these organizations and debates to "prove" that God
does not exist. Atheist reader, if you would just be true to what you
purport to believe, then you wouldn't have the Don Quixote Syndrome.
Hence, you've lost battles that never existed, hence crushed...
It's all a matter of semantics isn't it now :-)

Since you've obviously never read Genesis:
Genesis 1:7
And God made the FIRMAMENT, and divided the waters which were under
the firmament from the WATERS WHICH WERE ABOVE THE FIRMAMENT: and it
was so.
7:11
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the
seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of
the great deep broken up, and the WINDOWS OF HEAVEN WERE OPENED.
7:12
AND THE RAIN WAS UPON THE EARTH forty days and forty nights.
8:1
And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle
that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the
earth, and the waters assuaged;
8:2
The fountains also of the deep and THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN WERE STOPPED,
AND THE RAIN FROM HEAVEN WAS RESTRAINED.
That raises a question that, as a newbie around here, I've been
wanting to ask: how will I know when I've been successfully
"crushed"? I mean, I've been taking my spiritual temperature

people are our enemies.
Therefore IF the atheist REALLY believes there is no God

because the Christian is not his enemy.
Then why don't Christians act like our friends? When do you plan to
act like a friend to atheists?

<According to Genesis, the sky is a solid dome with a window in it that
<opens to let the rain fall. Is that your belief too?
CITATION?
Since you've obviously never read Genesis:
Genesis 1:7
And God made the FIRMAMENT, and divided the waters which were under
the firmament from the WATERS WHICH WERE ABOVE THE FIRMAMENT: and it
was so.
Okay, am I to look to see * a solid dome with a window in it*
1:7And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the
expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so
7:11
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the
seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of
the great deep broken up, and the WINDOWS OF HEAVEN WERE OPENED.
7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the
second month-on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and
the floodgates of the heavens were opened.
Once again, the goat has slipped in a premise without warrant. We may agree
with the idea of the land being set 'upon' the sea, but to say that it
'floats' upon that sea is not at all indicated in the text. The biblical
description accords with an accepted creationist paradigm that postulates
the pre-diluvian existence of the 'fountains of the great deep' (Genesis
7:11) which produced most of the water of the Genesis Flood. It would be
perfectly proper to have described the land as having been 'spread out' over
this vast subterranean water source. It would also be perfectly proper for
what was left of this water source to continue to be referred in the same
terms after the Flood when it would still be a source for underground
springs (Genesis 49:25, Deuteronomy 33:13).
Okay, am I to look to see * a solid dome with a window in it*
7:12
AND THE RAIN WAS UPON THE EARTH forty days and forty nights.
8:1
And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle
that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the
earth, and the waters assuaged;
8:2
The fountains also of the deep and THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN WERE STOPPED,
AND THE RAIN FROM HEAVEN WAS RESTRAINED.
8:2The fountains of the deep and the windows of the heavens were closed, the
rain from the heavens was restrained,
What is the meaning of the expression, "He brought a breath over the earth,
and the water ceased?" (#Ge 8:2). Some people say that what is here meant by
"a breath" is the wind, at which the deluge ceased. But I am not aware that
water is diminished by wind, but only that it is disturbed and agitated into
waves, for if it were otherwise the vast extent of the sea would have been
wholly dried up long ago. Therefore it appears to me that the sacred writer
here means the breath of the Deity, by which the whole universe obtains
security at the same time with the calamities of the world, and with those
things which exist in the air, and in every mixture of plants and animals.
Since the deluge of that time was no trifling infliction of water, but an
immense and boundless overflow, extending almost beyond the pillars of
Hercules and the great Mediterranean Sea, since the whole earth and all the
spaces of the mountains were covered with water; and it is scarcely likely
that such a vast space could have been cleared by a wind, but rather, as I
have said, it must have been done by some invisible and divine virtue.
(29) What is the meaning of the expression, "The fountains of the deep were
closed, and the cataracts of heaven?" (#Ge 8:2). In the first place, it is
agreed upon by all that in the first period of forty days the waters of
punishment fell uninterruptedly, the lowest fountains of the earth being
burst asunder; and from above, the cataracts of heaven being opened, and
pouring down until all places, both level and mountainous, were covered with
the inundation; and for another period of a hundred and fifty entire days
the waters did not cease to fall, nor did the streams cease to flow, nor the
springs to burst up, though still in milder quantities, not so as to
increase the existing flood, but only so as to secure the duration of the
existence of the deluge, which was also assisted from on high; and this is
what is indicated in the meantime by the statement that after a hundred and
fifty days the fountains and the cataracts were closed up; therefore, while
as yet they were not closed up it is plain that they were in action. In the
second place, it was necessary that that which afforded the excessive supply
of waters for the deluge, namely, the double reservoir of water, the one
from the fountains of the earth, and the other from the pourings forth of
heaven, should be both closed, for the more the stores from which any
material is supplied fail, the more it is consumed by itself, especially
when divine virtue has given the command. This is the literal meaning of the
expression. But with respect to the inner sense of the passage, since the
deluge of the mind arises from two things, for it arises partly from
counsel, as if from heaven, and in another degree also from the body and
from sense, as if from earth, the vices being reciprocally introduced by the
passions and the passions by the vices, it was inevitably necessary that the
word of the divine physician entering in as a salutary visitation for the
purpose of healing the disease, should prevent both kinds of overflow for
the future; for it is the first principle of the medical art to drive away
the cause of the infirmity and to leave no longer any materials for disease;
and the scripture teaches this, also, in the case of the leper, for when the
leprosy is checked and is prevented from extending further, it then fixes
the station and abode of the leprous man in the same place by a law, because
the character of being stationary implies cleanliness, for that which is
moved contrary to nature is unclean.
Okay again, where am I to look to see * a solid dome with a window in it*
You see the bible puzzles the atheist as calculus puzzles the dimwitted.
I look at the windows of the heavens during monsoon season around here and
watch the rains stopped after the windows of heavens close back up.
Beautiful prose isn't it.
Those Bible prophets were intelligent and soulful creatures I must admit.
That raises a question that, as a newbie around here, I've been
wanting to ask: how will I know when I've been successfully
"crushed"? I mean, I've been taking my spiritual temperature
every ten minutes, earnestly looking for minute changes, but
no matter how many "atheist crusher" posts I submit myself
to, I still feel fine.
It's not working. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this
"crushing" something like Therapeutic Touch or Yogic
Flying, in that only true believers will experience it?
Do I have to send him seed money first, could that be
it? Or am I simply not trying hard enough?
-- cary
Easy,Let me explain. Cervantes wrote a book about Don Quixote a long time
ago. Don Quixote would attack windmills as if they were his enemies. Of
course a windmill is nobody's enemy. If what the atheist believes is
REALLY
his belief, then he would leave people like me alone. After all, if God
did
not exist, He and His followers would be no enemy to the atheist. We'd
just
be deluded people.
Deluded people crashed planes into the World Trade Center. Deluded
people are our enemies.
Therefore IF the atheist REALLY believes there is no God
and the fool attacks a Christian, then he has the Don Quixote Syndrome
because the Christian is not his enemy.
Then why don't Christians act like our friends? When do you plan to
act like a friend to atheists?
--Billy
We are your friends, but you are too busy attacking us to.
A more appropriate question would be,if we give Christians a chance and let
them speak without being persecuted will they reciprocate?

Forget it. You are asking atheists to understand a simple analogy which

OK, hang on, let me check... nope, still not feeling crushed.
Maybe it takes practice. I'll keep trying.
I suppose I might feel a bit crushed, if I were attacking either God
or Christians. But I'm not. In fact, some of the people I admire
most are ones who act as they do in part because of Christianity,
from my girlfriend's mother to Jimmy Carter.
What I am attacking is people who use their religion as a cudgel
to browbeat people due solely due to political or philosophical
differences. People who propagate junk science in defiance of
reason. People who use their religion to justify their own distaste
for blacks or foreigners or women or gays or the arts while cheerfully
ignoring the fact that they themselves in no way intend to follow
the bits of either Jesus or the Old Testament which they find
inconvenient. Buffet Christians; a bit o'this, a bit o' that.
Christians who proclaim that homosexuality is an abomination but
have no problem with divorce in spite of Jesus' teachings on the matter.
Christians who quote "an eye for an eye..." but who would be horrified
is someone suggests they should take "If a man strike thee on the cheek"
literally. Christians who decry any hint of a social network,
while cheerfully pushing from their minds that Jesus promised that
anyone who does less than his utmost to comfort and nurture the
poor and afflicted will be cast away come judgment day.
That subset of Christians, in other words, who act as if Jesus
never taught, or even existed.
I'm not tilting against God; you're right: that would be silly.
Nor am I even railing against the great majority of Christians.
I cheerfully leave them to their own devices, exactly as I do
Hindus and Buddhists and Shitoists.
Nope, I take umbrage only at those distinctly non-Christlike
Christians who misuse their "religion" as a weapon, often
enough against non-Christians whose actions are frequently
more Christian than their own.

None yet. That is the problem.

Quite true, Mr. "crusher".... except, the followers of this particular
God feel that EVERYONE should follow their religious text. They even
change the Secular laws of the land to reflect their personal
interpretations of their religious text.
THIS means that atheists and others who don't follow your god must be
vigilant and constantly wary and mistrustful of many 'christians'.
We don't fear your god.... we fear YOUR interpretations of your god's
thoughts.
We'd just
be deluded people. Therefore IF the atheist REALLY believes there is no God
and the fool attacks a Christian, then he has the Don Quixote Syndrome
because the Christian is not his enemy.
You have this backwards. There are a few (and VERY vocal and
activist) people who claim to be True Christians (tm) who want to
force their religious laws on everyone. This makes them THE ENEMY of
free thinkers as well as of those who don't believe as they do... even
most other OTHER Christians.
Nevertheless, God is real and THAT
is why atheists have all these organizations and debates to "prove" that God
does not exist.
It's impossible to prove something doesn't exisit (ie: PROVE that
invisible pink unicorns don't exist)
Most atheists simply state that they've never been shown a reason for
believing in the Christian god more than the Buddha or in Zeus.
Atheist reader, if you would just be true to what you
purport to believe, then you wouldn't have the Don Quixote Syndrome.
Hence, you've lost battles that never existed, hence crushed...
Our battle is with the VERY real religious zealots who what to reshape
the world in their image.... Exactly like the Taliban and other
Theocratic states have tried to do.

GAWWWWWWWD!
Nope. No hate. And my shutters are still up.
Atheism is a belief system that ardently denies the existence of God.
By this definition, Christianity can be defined as a belief system that
denies the existence of Thor.
God calls the atheist a FOOL.
The men who wrote the bible call unbelievers fools. Hell, I would too if
it was that important for me to get as many people over to my side as
possible.
Many atheists spend much time and effort
attempting to "disprove" that God exists.
It's fun, and it's easy.
According to Romans chapter
1 they know that He exists,
Now you are projecting. We don't accept your circular arguments.
but they want to control their own lives
and not submit to the Lord.
There is no "lord".
They are actually rather tragic figures
just like any other unsaved individual. It is hard to live out their
atheism--if they did, they'd actually be considered crazy like O'Hair
was.
Then why don't you do yourself a favor. Go hang with your chums in the
religious groups, and leave us the hell alone. 'kay?

Atheists hate and shutter at the word of God.
You mean "shudder", you brain-dead moron. (That your assertion is
ridiculously false is beside the point).
Atheism is a belief system that ardently denies the existence of God.
Repeating the above still doesn't make it true.
God
calls the atheist a FOOL.
"God" can't call anyone anything, being imaginary.
Many atheists spend much time and effort
attempting to "disprove" that God exists.
I don't know a single atheist who would give your mythical sky pixie a
moment's thought, if obnoxious twits like you didn't continually try
to shove your beliefs down our throats.
According to Romans chapter 1
Citing your book of myths isn't going to impress anyone who doesn't
already believe in it.
they
know that He exists,
Rubbish. I don't find the idea of any kind of "God" to be even
remotely credible. Paul is dead wrong.
but they want to control their own lives and not submit
to the Lord.
Quite frankly, I wouldn't "submit to the Lord" even if I did believe
it existed: the God depicted in the Bible is a capricious,
bloodthirsty monster, who deserves execration, not submission.
They are actually rather tragic figures just like any other
unsaved individual. It is hard to live out their atheism--if they did,
I live out my atheism by not believing in any kind of "God/s". What's
so hard about that?
they'd actually be considered crazy like O'Hair was.
O'Hair was a nasty *****, but no worse than many theists. Like you,
for example.
