This photo has been around for years. It was believed at the time that
the Palestinians would be less likely to shoot if one of their own
children was tied to the bonnet. It didn't really work well for two
reasons, one was the public outrage over the practice and secondly,
everyone found it fairly easy to shoot the Israelis without harming
their children anyway, since the soldiers were almost never standing
directly behind the child.
The Israelis stopped the practice, and since then, the bombing of most
of Lebanon after two of their people were captured is the act that
causes the most public outrage.
