If you are going to make that assertion, I will counter with one of my
own. Christianity is a death religion. It can be proven to have been
directly or indirectly responsible for hundreds of thousands (probably
millions) of deaths over the centuries,

Atheism is a death religion.

Atheism is by definition not a religion

There are many definitions of "religion." Atheism is according to
several definitions a "religion."

My favorite quote on the subject:
"If atheism is a religion, then 'barefoot' is a kind of shoe."

According to several secular humanists, secular humanism is a "religion."

But not according to the secular humanists' own web site at
http://www.secularhumanism.org/library/fi/cherry_18_1.01.html
'Secular humanism is not a religion by any definition: There are no
supernatural beliefs, no creeds that all humanists are required to
accept, no sacred texts or required rituals. Humanists are not
expected or required to have "faith" in what is said by any
authority, living or dead, human or "supernatural."'
This is in section 3, which also demolished the canard about the
Supreme Court declaring it a religion.

Who said anything about secular humanism?

The fundies equate atheism with secular humanism with communism with
evolution.
You don't have to be atheist to be a secular humanist. All it takes is
to realise that humanism is independent of religion. Eg Ghandi was the
ultimate humanist.
