To be fair, the 11% also includes bisexuals as well as homosexuals.
There are probably less than five percent of adult Americans who
self-identify as "gay, lesbian, transgendered, bisexual or other". The
fact that 89% of people cannot be considered gay or bisexual by the
most extreme and ridiculous imaginable standards-calling anyone gay who
has ever had or desired to have homosexual contact of any type
whatsoever-is telling.
And of those five percent a disproportionate number relocate to places
with high concentrations of like-minded people, meaning that outside
NYC, SFO and a few small communities known as gay bastions, the percent
is much less.
It's in fact possible the percentage is closer to one or two percent.
