like i said before, gas pumpers here don't earn enough to own a computer,
nor would they even be able to use one.
in South Africa, unskilled labour is so plentiful that wages are under
constant downward pressure. the only way they earn slightly over R200 per
week, is because the government stipulates a minimum wage.
but that minimum wage of R200 per week (about US$34) is artificially high.
our textile industry is still at a competitive disadvantage paying wages
that high, because textile workers in Asia earn even less.
if you came and pumped gas in South Africa, you would earn about R800 per
month ($134). that's your true worth.
