As you may know, my mother died a little over 2 months ago. I went to
visit my father this evening, and one of the first things he did was
show me a letter he got in the mail.
Mind you, this letter was from a total stranger, in High Point NC, a
good hour's drive from where Dad lives. Here's what it said:
Dear Mr. Harrington,
I recently read about the loss of your wife in death. Since I could
not come to you personally, I thought I would write to express my
deepest sympathy. Loss of a loved one is so very distressing, and at
the time there are *NO* words that seem to comfort us. Have you ever
wondered *WHY* we *DIE*? Note what the Bible has to say at (Romans
5:12) "That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the
world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men
because they had all sinned." So it was not God that brought death
to man, but as the scripture said it was through man, namely Adam.
What hope is there for our loved ones who have passed on in death?
Jesus' words say this at (John 5:28,29) "Do not marvel at this,
because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tomb
will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a
resurrection of life." So Almighty God has entrusted his Son Jesus
Christ with the authority and power to resurrect persons. Isn't that
a wonderful hope for all mankind.
I have enclosed tract entitled "What Hope For Dead Loved Ones?" I
hope and pray for the comfort of you and your family now, and in days
ahead.
Sincerely,
<name>
I am speechless. What sort of ghoul would do this to total strangers?
I'm going to let this percolate in my mind for a bit before writing
an "official family reply."
Eurgh...
A christian ghoul. There isn't anything they *won't* do.
Biblical spam to sell bibles to the recently bereaved?
How low can you get?
