Don't you know evolution is a farce? You are obviously a product of the
brain washing which goes on in our Schools, Colleges and Universities.
I have seen the desperate lengths these Professors and Scientists go to
make people believe in evolution, even fabricating evidence to support
their unsupportable theories.
1st Rule of Creationism: Ignored evidence will go away
2nd Rule of Creationism: Interpret any challenge as personal insult
3rd Rule of Creationism: Claim evidence then quietly slip away
4th Rule of Creationism: Don't be confused by facts
5th Rule of Creationism: Insist that science ignores your proof
6th Rule of Creationism: Claim superiority for Christian education.
7th Rule of Creationism: Always appear to know more than you do.
8th Rule of Creationism: Shift the burden of proof to your critics.
9th Rule of Creationism: Lying for the Lord is okay.
10th Rule of Creationism: Never acknowledge your demonstrated errors

A curious hoax that has planted evidence in the grounds, the skies, and
our very genetic code. A hoax that spans languages, countries, and
centuries, A "hoax" that can be confirmed by anyone who wants to look
at the evidence. A "hoax" in which the evidence of geology, genetics,
morphology, behavioral science, meteorology, paleontology, history,
radiochemistry, all converge on the same "wrong" answer. A curious
hoax, that. Even your creator god seem to be in on it.

One of the *many special problems with the global flood of genesis.
Among other things, it is recorded that this was not only the biggest
rain ever, it was the *first rain. A biblical literalist has to explain
(well, if he wants to sound sane) why it didn't and couldn't rain
before the deluge.
And if water didn't evaporate and condense in the usual manner ("there
were different laws of physics then...") how could humans sweat and
cool off? Why were some plants "designed" to catch water? Etc.

"In the last days there will be scoffers who will laugh at the truth and do every evil thing
they desire. This will be their argument: "Jesus promised to come back, did he? Then
where is he? Why, as far back as anyone can remember, everything has remained
exactly the same since the world was first created."
They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command, and he
brought the earth up from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water
to destroy the world with a mighty flood. And God has also commanded that the heavens
and the earth will be consumed by fire on the day of judgment, when ungodly people will
perish.
But you must not forget, dear friends, that a day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and
a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise to return,
as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to
perish, so he is giving more time for everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come
as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and every-
thing in them will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be exposed to
judgment.
Since everything around us is going to melt away, what holy, godly lives you should be
living! You should look forward to that day and hurry it along--the day when God will
set the heavens on fire and the elements will melt away in the flames.
But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world

Yup. So much for that Jesus fellow. But then again, he was not unique
in his delusion.
Of course, since he was only a mythical construct, taken from a number
of mythologies, and never was a real person, his failure is nothing
unique either.
They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command, and he
brought the earth up from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water

Nope, didn't forget. Learned better.
And what with the few dozen killer comet claims, and death dealing
asteroids. Not to mention the odd terrorist threat and such, I doubt
very highly, that the earth, and universe will "perish in flames".
Your posts on the other hand, well, the smoke will get pretty thick,
pretty quick.

Yeah, sure he will.
To bad he failed to keep his promise to his own followers. You know,
that little bit about, "and some of you hear, shall not see death before
my return.", you remember that part don't you?
Oh, but I digress, mythical beings don't have to keep their promises, as
they are not real anyway.
Since everything around us is going to melt away, what holy, godly lives you should be

Right, hurry it along.
So that means you will be taking no part in FCC censorship. The
abortion conflict. You will work to repeal all blue and archaic sex
laws. And this Krazy Kristian Koalition crap about a marriage amendment
to the Constitution, you will vote against it.
Right?
If not, then what you posted above is a lie.

A truly merciful God would simply forgive all. A wise God would
understand the limitations of humanity and forgive all. A God who took
an active interest in us would communicate clearly with us, rather than
in vague, contradictory passages in drawn from the mythology of one
obscure sect among thousands. The God of Christianity is apparently
vengful, unwise, and couldn't care less about us.
Above all, a truly powerful God would have the strength to exist.

getting what he wants.

He could have simply said "All is forgiven. Be as kind to each other as
your nature will allow." Why was any blood necessary? Why His own blood
to forgive us breaking his own rules?
He asks me not to think. He asks too much.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then where does evil come from?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?

Let's take your myth at face value for a moment.
He creates humans, who do not yet understand the difference between
good and evil. They eat of the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good
and Evil, and he punishes them for it - even tho they did not yet know
right from wrong!
Moreover, he punishes people who did not disobey. (Those not yet born.)
Then he promises to "forgive" us, if we believe that he died for our
sins. You mean, as some sort of whipping boy, a substitute. But *I
didn't sin. And *he didn't die, and knew it ahead of time.
And if we guess wrong, based on the best ambiguous feeling and
non-existant evidence, then he tortures us forever.
Is that about right?
Your religion - the one I was raised on - is not about love so much as
insane and abusive parenting allegories. YOu talk not as one who knows
what love is but like a badly beaten child: "Please Daddy, stop hitting
me with that coat hanger! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Fortunately, there is no evidence for such a monster.
What does any of this have to do with science, BTW?
Kermit

On Thu, 3 Feb 2005 20:10:00 -0800, "Andrew" <andrew.321remov@usa.net>
drained his beer, leaned back in the alt.atheism beanbag and drunkenly
proclaimed the following
What more could He do for you.......He died for you.
No, he didn't. At best Jesus had a really bad day, then spent two
days asleep. Dead is dead. Dying and coming back to life fully
healed is not a sacrifice.
I have a friend just home from Iraq. He used to have two arms. A
bullet in the Sunni triangle shattered his forearm, and he's now
learning to write left-handed. That's a sacrifice.
On 9/11, firefighters charged into the towers knowing the risks, and
paid the price. That's a sacrifice.
Sacrifice means losing something precious, permanently. Jesus, in the
Bible myths, loses nothing.
God is love. Why not accept His love and the eternal
future He has for you??
Why do you no accept Allah? Or Mithra? Or the Norse gods? Don't you
want to spend eternity feasting and fighting in Valhalla, waiting for
Rangarok?
