1: Why didn't/doesn't life evolve on the moon? or Mars?
Because Earth has climatic conditions more conducive to the evolution
of life forms.
2: Why does fruit grow? (Oranges don't have good survival tactics, and
really had no reason to evolve).
Fruit is just a tree's way of ensuring that its seeds get planted at
some distance from the tree. If trees' seeds always grew right next to
them, they would compete for sunlight. Fruit, by being nutritious,
motivates animals to eat it. When they defecate, the seed is deposited
some distance away from the tree, with fertilizer.
3: How did matter form? What did it form from?
Yes, well, nobody knows the answer to this question. Why does the
universe exist in the first place? Good question, but I don't think it
will ever be answered. After all, how could one answer such a question
without being outside of the universe?
4: From where did life come? Abiogenesis has neither been observed or
replicated in any true form, even though dead things now have bands of
scientists and a friendly environment to help them along.
I disagree, it has been reproduced in the laboratory. But hey, if you
think that spontaneous evolution of living cells is impossible, then
sure, you'd have to believe that there is an outside intervention.
5: All of the missing links died without a trace. Unbelievable,
literally.
So you're saying you don't believe in evolution? If that's what you're
saying, then you're either in denial or simply haven't read enough
science books. The evidence for evolution is overwhelming.
Atheism does not answer the questions that i have regarding the
purpose
of life and the things in it.
Ah, now here's the first point you've made that I'd agree with. And I
think it stems from a misunderstanding of what atheism is. Atheism is
not the belief that there is no creator, but rather the lack of a
belief in a creator. After all, how could one prove that there is no
outside force which effected the creation of the universe?
Also, atheism is not a religion. It's not a belief system. Atheists
don't go to atheist church on Sundays. They simply don't buy into the
reasoning behind any existing religion.
I agree that there is purpose to existence. But that purpose does not
depend on the extistence of "God" (whatever that means).
For example, have you ever noticed that people are more alike than
different? And it is our similarities, the things we have in common,
which are important. An enlightened person understands this. Since we
are alike, then perhaps we're actually the same person deep down. That
is, we're all the same soul looking out of different windows. Now,
this sounds pretty spiritual, right? But I didn't arrive at this
conclusion by reading a religious book, or by going to church. And the
truth of this insight does not depend on the existence of a creator.
In point of fact, there is even a "kingdom of heaven" (in my opinion).
And it's here on earth, just as Socrates postulated. But you don't get
there by believing you're saved.
