look it up yourself, you lazy *****.

why don't you try and get away from your comic books fag boy?
After having their 11th child, an Alabama couple decided that was enough.
So the husband went to his doctor and told him that he and his wife/cousin
did not want to have any more children.
The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that could
fix the problem.
The doctor instructed him to go home, get a cherry bomb (big firework),
light it, put it in a beer can, then hold the can up to his ear and count to
10.
The Alabamian said to the doctor, 'I may not be the smartest man, but I
don't see how putting a cherry bomb in a beer can next to my ear is going to
help me.'
So the couple drove across the state border into Georgia to get a second
opinion.
The Georgia physician was just about to tell them about the procedure for a
vasectomy when he noticed that they were from Alabama.
The doctor instead told the man to go home and get a cherry bomb, light it,
place it in a beer can, hold it to his ear and count to 10.
Figuring that both learned physicians couldn't be wrong, the man went home,
lit a cherry bomb and put it in a beer can.
He held the can up to his ear and began to count '1, 2, 3, 4, 5...' at which
point he paused, placed the beer can between his legs and resumed counting
on his other hand.

oh, it's in there, all right - another example of the self-contradictory
nature of any "magic" tome... Luke 22:36 is where you'll find it.
however, the passage refers to a time after Jesus told his followers
that the bad guys were coming to kill him, and that they would kill all
of them, too. self-contradiction is actually at a minimum here,
although the disciples wouldn't have thought that. he was warning them
that bad times were coming, but they thought he meant that he was going
to lead them into a fight, and be the avenging Messiah they hoped for...
when they told him "we have two swords already!" he replied, "that's
enough," to end their talk of violent actions.

Did Mill say that during or following his mental breakdown when he was in his
twenties, or following his failed political career when he was not re-elected after
one term in Parliament?
Btw- can anyone establish the source of that supposed quote or otherwise prove
that it is a hoax? Mill was not a "liberal" but a Benthamite, a philosophy supposing
that the only motives of all behaviour are pleasure seeking and pain avoidance. It
would thus seem that even if he had made such a remark, it was not to advocate
the liberal view, as might seem the case in the simplistic "black and white" thinking
of modern pseudo-intellectuals.

Not true, because I am not questioning the validity or non-validity of the
statement, which is obviously preposterous, but rather questioning whether
Mill actually said that, and impeaching the lack of substantiation allowed
by the thousand and some internet posters who have freely accepted that
as a quote from Mill without having examined the source. The statement itself
is obviously nonsense, and I am suggesting that as a Benthamite, if Mill had
indeed said that his motive for doing so was the seeking of pleasure and
avoiding the pain of his own experience of being a failure.

In fact, in the statement quoted above, there is absolutely nothing
questioning whether he actually said it, but rather only claims of his
mental breakdown and personal failure.

by the thousand and some internet posters who have freely accepted that
as a quote from Mill without having examined the source. The statement itself

Hmm... after reading this I find myself beginning to agree with you.
The statement that not all conservatives are stupid is, as you say,
obviously nonsense. I agree that all conservatives are stupid. Happy now?
I find your attribution of motives highly original and imaginative.

one term in Parliament?

Btw- can anyone establish the source of that supposed quote or otherwise prove
that it is a hoax? Mill was not a "liberal" but a Benthamite, a philosophy supposing

So you have nothing to indicate that the statement itself isn't true?
Just comments on the character or intent of the person you think
probably didn't even say it, and derogation of the thought patterns of
entirely unrelated persons? Nope, that doesn't work. You kind of have
to address the meaning of the statement itself if you wish to invalidate
it, not just shotgun derision all around. Fact is, most stupid people
are conservative, and not all conservatives are stupid. Why even a
conservative would object to someone saying they may not be stupid is a
puzzle to me.

that the only motives of all behaviour are pleasure seeking and pain avoidance. It
would thus seem that even if he had made such a remark, it was not to advocate
the liberal view, as might seem the case in the simplistic "black and white" thinking
of modern pseudo-intellectuals.

I've long held that stupid people think they're smart and smart people think
they're stupid, and you apparently think you're very smart.

On the contrary. "Smart" people are usually quite aware of their own
intelligence. They're also well aware that they don't know everything.
Stupid people, on the other hand, are generally unaware of their own
limitations. Or believe they don't have any.... ;-)

It's quite simple. Truely smart people are acutely aware of how limited their
own knowledge is with respect to what can be known, and are constantly
striving to become more knowledgeable. Stupid people think they already
know everything and go out of their way to avoid discovering otherwise.
Yes, it's a paradox, but life is full of 'em.

this statement, like your last, is not only paradoxical, but this time,
it's idiotic as well.
"stupid people," given that they thought they were smart, would never go
out of their way to avoid discovering information, since they feel they
are smart... nor would they be smart enough to avoid discovering things
in the first place.
intellectuals do not make sweeping statements about smart versus stupid,
as they know well enough the difference between the two. you,
apparently, do not.
