Justification! Similar to the internal thoughts we listen at to
justify our drug use. Could it be possible that this thought, "but,
I was only doing it to spare her feelings" is a lie in itself and
that the truth is that you were doing to spare your feelings? Is it
possible that you fear being truthful with her because of the way
it might make you feel, or the way it might look to other people in
the group, that your thoughts and actions are being driven by a need to
fit in or, perhaps a fear of confrontation. It is much easier to
lie than to face our fears and take responsibility for our emotions and
the pain that our thoughts can cause us. It is almost like the lie
is a drug in itself; that lie takes away our pain, just like the drugs
take away our pain. It is almost like the reasons we used drugs are
still there and we use lies to take the place of drug; that the
addiction has shifted from one form to another and that we have
done nothing to address the issues that drive our addictions. How did
you do on step 4?
Hey Therapy Joe, how did you do on your step 4? You seem to be
pretty
good at fearlessly looking at everyone elses problems. What problems
do you have? Why should anyone listen to a word you say when for all
we know, you aren't even an addict and could have no experience
whatsoever in these matters?
How about you illustrate your point above by giving us a real world
example of a time when you lied to spare your own feelings and a
time
when you went ahead and took responsibility for your own emotions.
If
you can't point to a real world example, your advice is worth less
than ***** because it is untested.

I want to feel what Mary felt when God spent his seed.
your defensive reply is rejected with the contempt it deserves, greg.
your argumentative approach is typical of the morons I encountered in
NA groups.
no, we are not going to turn the spotlight onto the interrogator,
that's not how it works.
silly me... i thought it was a reciprocol conversation...
1. 'reciprocol' is spelt 'reciprocal'.
2. greg was not being addressed by 123, you were.
3. i consider it ***** that when a person is being interrogated, that
instead of answering the fucking questions, they turn it back on the
interrogator, like a PERP talking back to a cop and saying, "***** you,
*****! where were YOU at 6 o'clock on Sunday evening?" whereupon the
cop will say something like, "fucking your old lady while you were out
smoking crack with yer crackhead buddies and killing Mr. Petersen for his
roll so you could continue smoking crack, ya fucking piece of *****. Now I'm
gonna give you one more chance to answer my questions before i start
cracking yer ribs. Do you understand me, *****?" "I ain't your *****, you
punk ***** pig!!!" <whack, kick, stomp, CRACK!> "HEY!!! Those were my fucking
ribs, *****!!!" "I'm gonna put you in a permanent vegetative state,
you punk ***** crackhead *****!!!"
anyway, that's how I understand routine police procedure to be in America,
based on films produced in your hillbilly run country.
now, do you care to answer 123 questions? or do you prefer to hide behind
greg p's skirt.

i think i'll just hide behind a number... how about 234?
some people don't like disclosing their personal details when posting to
Usenet.
seriously though, i didn't realize i was being 'interrogated'
and that i was bound under some kind of law to answer.
you were. 123 asked you a number of pointed questions, which you ignored
(fair enough), but which greg p decided to respond to, by turning all the
questions back on the interrogator.
i object to that. either shut the ***** up or answer the questions, but don't
turn them back on the interrogator. that is not permissible, for the simple
reason that the interrogator (123) did not initiate the posts about this
slug roll woman. you did. and therefore you implicitly asked readers to read
and scrutinise what you had written and respond to you.
therefore you gave him the right to interrogate you further.
you are under no obligation to answer him, but neither can he be chastised
for interrogating you.
i just figured 123 was being a ***** and i was getting a little bored
with his insults/arrogance.
you know, it's pretty much an open conversation,
so, if greg jumps in or steve jumps in or you jump in, that's all fine.
sure. and i have a right to correct them for being the arseholes they both
are.
if someone is asking me questions and it seems like they are being
helpful, i'll usually go ahead and talk to them. but, if someone is
just coming off as pompous and out-of-touch i'm probably not going to
talk to them.
i can see why you're taking up for 123, though.
i don't think much of him. i'm responding to a principle, not a personality.
you probably both got beat up a lot as kids on your way to spelling bees.
South Africa does not hold 'spelling bees'. Calling them 'bees' is
completely ridiculous. What have they got to do with bees?
School children here do not appear in public spelling tests either. Spelling
tests are a very mundane thing which is done in private in classrooms. It is
not seen as something fantastic or entertaining to witness a child spelling
words, however complex the words may be.
BTW, if i paused
to correct you every time you were not grammatical, it would really
slowo things down.
diana
true. especially as you would have to first recognise bad grammar.

i'm not. my primary objection was greg's attack.
sure. freedom of speech. that's how we do it in america, anyway.
America is a disgrace.
hey it's my country and i'm proud of it.
i'm only proud of things that are worthy of respect.
i am not unconditionally proud of my own country.
maybe you should quit hanging out with americans if we're so horrid.
i find it frustrating having a conversation with someone who doesn't
understand the message being communicated.
perhaps you could divorce yourself from your country and your government?
there's that hatred of intelligence. it's very juvenile.
i don't hate intelligence although i don't really care for people who
get smug about it. intelligence is a gift that is randomly dumped on
some and not others.
and you're bitter because you didn't get much?
one hit on the head and it's gone.
it takes a bit more than that.
you're belittling intelligence. it is something that NA members do
frequently and it annoyed me intensely when I used to be part of NA.
yeah. you gotta be a real fucking geek to get hung up on spelling.
not actually. spelling is important. poor spelling marks you as
unintelligent and therefore not worthy of respect. it's something
that you ought to be quietly competent in.
i've met some incredibly brilliant people who misspell the occasional
word. usually they're focused on other things besides spelling and
grammar.
any brilliant person who writes a thesis or paper must take pains to ensure
that spelling errors are corrected and that correct grammar is used. if you
believe otherwise, you are clueless.
intelligent people do not respect articles which use poor English.
i have met many secretaries with meticulous spelling.
that is because they are professionals, trained to make their bosses look
professional. that is your first clue, and you are in need of many.
you seem to have a low opinion of secretaries.
secretaries are several levels higher up than people who fill donuts with
cream at Krispy Kreme. know your place in the pecking order. you are a
menial labourer who would earn about R800 - R1200 a month in South Africa.
secretaries earn R6000 - R30 000.

for themselves, and that's when they take their own lives.
you might be one of them.
mea culpa.
i studied Latin. i doubt you have.
