I don't entirely disagree with you, Donna, as I'm no big fan of
modern-day Christianity either. I do have some comments for you
which I hope you'll consider, beginning with the devil-incarnate
which is the worldly ego-self. Not physically Immortal, i.e. not
like the first men Adam (the red race) who were Immortal before
the Adamic fall. Thus neither like Jesus Christ, first-begotten
Immortal Son of God from out of the fallen, sinful, ergo mortal
human race. Jesus is the first human being born Immortal since
the Adamic fall. And as a result, He certainly did not have to
allow Himself to be taken prisoner, tortured, and crucified to
death. But Jesus clearly died by choice, in agreement with God.

Hence the gospel of Christ-crucified, that the Immortal soul of
Jesus had, through much experience, and incomparable will-power,
regained what the first man Adam had lost: physical Immortality,
seeing the first race of free-willed Individual humans had been
Created Immortal, first one, then two, then three, ad infinitum;
so too the first humans eventually fell into sin ergo mortality,
first one, then two, then three, ad infinitum. It took Jesus to
break the pattern of sin and death, by dying even though He was
born Immortal, born without sin. And by breaking the pattern of
sin and death, Jesus opened the door for the rest of us mortals
to eventually break the pattern of our own sin and death, hence
two, then three, then four, ad infinitum, Jesus being the first,
verily the Christ, Son of the living God. It's all in the bible.

The Sons of God are immortal because they do not sin. Sons of
God who did sin fell into mortality, with its daily struggles
and hardships unto death (altogether, being the wages of sin).

As ever, it's always about free-will. Choose Spirit and live,
choose flesh and die. And even though a mortal, sinful human
might truly repent of all his sins, yet he is still indebted
to the Sanctified Spirit (Holy Spirit, Holy Ghost, third part
of the Holy Trinity) for his past unpaid sins or karmic debts
until every penny, every sub-atomic particle, is paid in full.
Thus even the most sincerely repentant man, especially by his
works, even he will surely die, because he must pay the Piper
(and this unto the third and fourth mortal generation, to wit).

But at least he can take comfort that eternal life awaits his
Immortal soul in the spirit realms being eternally about, and
eventually Immortal life awaits Him with Jesus ruling on Earth,
verily Immortality-in-the-flesh: to be born and live Immortally
as fellow Sons of God on Earth. This is made clear not only in
the codified canon of the Judeo-Christian scriptures, but over
the long centuries many others have written in lucid agreement
on this subject. One famous example is Josephus' "Discourse to
the Greeks concerning Hades". Josephus was one smart cookie as
they say. I only know that the more that God's will is done on
Earth as it is in heaven, thus the more Earth becomes Paradise,
and thus our first Immortal physical bodies become resurrected,
and all this because Jesus Christ died on the cross at Calvary.

When you think of the gift He gave us, the whole Universe pales
by comparison! I can't understand why anyone would reject Jesus,
if not for the fragile human ego. Vanity is the death of us all.

Let me say it plainly:
Those who are deliberately disobeying ANY of God's
Ten Commandments are not Born-Again Christians.

And yet, ignorance of God's (Universal) Law is no excuse. Never
has been and never will be. There are certainly hundreds if not
thousands of old and new testament verses to this effect. E.g.,
Leviticus 5:17, surely among the most unambiguous of citations.
Add all the "sowing and reaping" verses, and "good tree versus
the corrupt tree", etc. And the "Holy Ghost forgives not" part:
What part of that part do modern-day Christians not understand?

The list goes on encyclopaedically, Genesis through Revelation,
and the theme is always the same: freedom -and- responsibility
walk hand-in-hand. No free ride, do no pass go, do not collect...
