At any rate, if ANYONE has ever experienced one of these
uncanny "alarm clock type of dream awakenings", I would
appreciate hearing about it here..... the phenomenon is
still not explained and now seems to have a very interesting
and relevant application!!!!

Yes, I've had these experiences, where external noises were factored
into the dream, but none where I could say there was any opportunity to
extract timing data as in the guillotine example. However, the
guillotine example may have happened over time as well, and there's no
telling how long Maury had laid there with the small board on him. We
are told he awoke immediately, but perhaps that was not so. Critical
analysis is always required.

[Hammond]
Na, na, na..... Freud clearly points out Maury's mother
was sitting in a chair beside the bed when it happened...
she would have noticed if he didn't immediately wake up
after the board fell..... besides this incident is 100 years
old and was discussed for YEARS by Le Lorraine and Egger
and hundreds of others in an interational journal at the
time and has been investigated by countless others since-
along with THOUSANDS of other recorded similar dream
"coincident suprise dream arousals".

I do have an experience of timing. Once, in my sleep, rolled over, and
knocked the alarm clock off the night stand with my outstretched hand.
From a dead sleep, interrupted by the feel of contact of my hand, I made
a responsive grab, and caught hold of the cord as the clock went. I
grabbed the cord and arrested the fall at just the moment the face of
the clock touched the floor. As I came fully awake, I had about a foor
and a half of the cord in my hand, clock dangling from it, the protruded
faceplate of the clock was cracked, but there was no further damage
because of the arrested momentum. The night stand was about 22" as best
I recall. There is a pretty exact reaction time measurement to muscles
active there, the time to fall 22" in a 1G field. Very short. Newtonian
physics approximation will answer nicely here. The distance is equal to
1/2 G t^2 or about 1/3 of a second.

[Hammond]
Yeah, yeah, yeah.... now if only you reported having a dream
of being lead up to a gallows, climbing the 13 steps, having
the noose tied around your neck, hearing the minister read
from the Bible and finally feeling the trap door open under
your feet........ and THEN woken up to find yoursefl holding
the alarm clock cord....THEN, you would be telling us
something ON TOPIC..... instead of telling us yet another
pointless shaggy dog story!

Now, before anyone goes long on this issue of time dilation in dreams,
you need to remember what is proposed here runs backwards from the time
dialation of General Relativity. In GR, time can run more slowly for one
under acceleration, or a strong gravitational field, or with high speed
"relative" to someone else who is otherwise not so unaccelerated/moving.
However, there is no way to speed up an observer relative to the rest of
the world.

[Hammond}
As an astronaught falls INTO the field of a Black Hole
we Earth observers see him start to move
SLOWER AND SLOWER.
Alternatively, if he is climbing OUT of a Black Hole
(using his rockets) we Earth observers will notice him
beginning to move FASTER AND FASTER AND FASTER.
So, YES, you can have it EITHER WAY in General Relativity.
depending on whether the gravitational field is
getting STRONGER or WEAKER!
Now presumably this entire phenomenon is caused by
"quantum Brain Gravity" (as pioneered by Sir Roger
Penrose in _Shadows of the Mind_, 1994) and subsequently
(dramatically) experimentally confirmed by Hammond's
discovery that Psychometry is causally identical
to Linearized General Relativity!
What this means is that "dreamworld reality" in
the brain can momentarily move into an exceedingly
strong (quantum neurological) gravitational field compared
to wide awake "nondreamstate reality".... hence the
dream can APPEAR to have taken place in a split second
(according to the awake dreamer) but takes minutes or longer
according to the asleep dreamer.... who of
course is throughly AMAZED AND STUNNED when
he wakes up and discovers that he has had a long
intricately concocted dream which logically predicted the
headlong automobile crash which just (apparently)
was heard outside his bedroom window and woke him up!
and that is FINALLY the long sought explanation of the
notorious ALARM CLOCK DREAM PHENOMENON which
Freud valiantly (and of course unsuccessfully)
battled with 100 years ago. It turns out the phenomena
is explainded by a time dilation in the brain caused
by (de facto) the fact that Hammond has discovered
that Psychometry is explained by classical (Einsteinian)
Gravity.... while Penrose has identified the SOURCE
of this gravity as "quantum brain gravity" which
adds up to (Hammond's) classical "Psychometric
Curvature". All of this does not PROVE that there
is life after death.... but now the ALARM CLOCK DREAM
phenomeno has become the SMOKING GUN of
a "time dilated death dream" theory of Life After
Death........... and boy............ I'll be laughing
my balls off all the way to the bank if it's TRUE!!!!

As does an extensive killfile.

As does an extensive killfile.

Never saw the point of using one. Killfiles are just milder forms of
temper tantrums usually with an exclamation of "plonk". A demonstration
of an inability to interact with others or to resolve differences.
