Carson man accused of bomb threat pleads to misdemeanor

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A Carson City man arrested on suspicion of
threatening to blow up the Gov.'s Mansion has pleaded guilty to a
misdemeanor.

David Allen Clary Sr. was released from jail Wednesday after pleading

to a charge of making a harassing telephone call.

Clary, 47, said he never made a bomb threat Saturday, but instead was
expressing his disbelief at an officer's denial that mansion security
cameras would not have shown other children accosting his daughter two
blocks away.

During the discussion with the security guard, he said he posed a
hypothetical question about someone being able to approach the Gov.'s
Mansion with a bomb.

Clary told the Reno Gazette-Journal that he was a Republican and supporter
of Gov. Kenny Guinn.

"I would never do anything to harm the individual," he said. "I'm not a
terrorist. I'd never do anything that bizarre."

Justice of the Peace John Tatro sentenced Clary to time served and gave

a suspended six-month jail sentence.

"It was our position that what he did was an incredibly stupid act,"

District Attorney Chris Hicks said. "The facts didn't seem to support a
felony level bomb threat."
