I'm not sure what kind of rodent that last one is. I called it a
wood rat up above. He's caught two of 'em just today. I think
he must've found a nest of 'em somewhere.

Yeah.
Luey brings them in alive? That's pretty odd and cool.
Most of the time he carries the things gently enough to not
draw blood. He just wants to play with the things I guess.
If I wasn't feeding him he'd probably eat those things eventually.
Your cat must be proud. He could very well be on the bug's most
wanted list.
Dogs don't torment and kill just for the fun of it. Nor do rabbits or
goats or anything else you might have as a pet. (just cats and
piranhas)
