And we know what happened in Texas under the shrubbie.
But what has that to do with the shrubbie's first-ever veto?

Actually, I've changed my mind. Creationism shouldn't be taught or even
mentioned in public schools. I've given up on public schools anyway. I've

Since over 95% of the population is employed how can you claim the masses
want to rely on a government check? What are you saying, that the masses
"want" a government check but can't get one and have to work? If not you are
perpetuating the myth the large segments of our people are lazy shiftless
bums that live off government subsidies. The only trouble with that claim is
that it is totally bogus. Like I said, 95% of the people are working so
obviously there are not many people, relatively speaking, who are collecting
checks from the government. If you knew how many of the ones that do are
actually prosperous business people I think you would have a different
opinion.

Don't forget that over 30% of the jobs are Gov. jobs. Actually, the

nothing, no added value.

"Wealth creation" is just one area of specialization in the work force. It's
no different than agriculture or mining or manufacturing. It's a small
segment because that is all that is needed. Most labor is ordinary. Even so,
it's necessary. Everyone can't be a chief. We need mainly Indians to do the
mundane tasks that are required by our society. You are under rating
everybody else so you can elevate the importance of those who create wealth.
Truth is they are no more important than any other segment of society. Lose
any segment and everyone is affected negatively. The same is true for those
who "create wealth", a term that I don't like, by the way. Sounds arrogant
to me.

Joe,
The work force in the US is 135 million more or less. The population, as
n - "Since over 95% of the population is employed" -
is about 310 million. Do the math.......
Were " 95% of the population is employed" true, the average burger flipper

Such a condition would explain America's mistake in electing Goober, and

Sorry about my assumption, when I said the unemployment rate was around 95%
I was referring to the work force in general not the general population. I
meant that the 95% rate, which is from government figures, shows that nearly
everyone wanting to work is working. Most of us know that this figure isn't
accurate. First of all it includes people in the military in the figure, and
second it doesn't take into account the people who have given up looking for
work. In reality there is a lot more than 5% of the work force that are not
employed and there are a lot that are underemployed or are working at jobs
far beneath their training and educational levels.
The main point was that if one used the government's own numbers on
employment it would be impossible for there to be anything but a very small
segment of the population that is "on the public dole". The myth that many
Americans receive "free" money from the government while sitting at home
eating Bon Bons and watching TV is still widely accepted. The good thing is
that at this point it's only accepted by conservatives and other ignorant
folk.

Oh come now. And relax. When people say something "over 95% employed",
they know full well that at least half the population isn't involved,
for one good reason or another: too young, too old, housewife,
househusband, etc. The relevant subpopulation, the base for the 95%,
consists of those who wish to work.
A more cogent argument is to accuse the government of excluding people
who are too discouraged to look anymore from unemployment statistics.
The problem with this argument is that it has been around for many
decades, and nobody has come up with a better statistic, and people have
got the current one calibrated politically: ~3% means that the economy
is so good that employers are begging for people, ~5% is good (and
mostly represents people changing jobs for personal reasons), ~7% is
trouble, and ~9% is time for revolution.
Well, at least talk of revolution. Some European countries report ~25%
unemployment, and this is alleged to be a politically-motivated
underestimate.
One can argue that 5% is the optimum level of unemployment.
The other big mystery is to try to reconcile the unemployment statistics
(count of unsuccessful jobseekers) with the employment statistics (count
of people who are employed). They don't quite tie off, and nobody
really knows why, although theories abound. And life goes on.

remove schools from government.

<snip>
I sniped out all the eyeball glazing verbosity and found the only
four
words
of importance. However, to say it right: "remove government from
schools"

Stuff them full of churches & superstitions?

The shrubbie used veto #1 ..... so much for health care, science,
leadership, products to sell, .....

No, just have the states run the schools.

Kansas, Georgia, etc. .... full of "creationists".
And we know what happened in Texas under the shrubbie.
But what has that to do with the shrubbie's first-ever veto?

What's wrong with teaching creationism and evolution both as theories?

What

are the left afraid of?

The fact that you even ask that question is what is wrong. If they want

to

teach creationism in a religion class, fine, but to represent it as
science
is flawed.

I agree, don't represent it as science, represent it as an alternate that

is

part of the belief system of a large portion of society. And science

isn't

a religion? Secularism, atheism and science...the new PC relegion!
Anything else is blasphomy?

Ok, first off, turn on your spellchecker. It is hard to take you seriously
if you have misspelled words in your posts. Science is NOT a religion.
Religions are based on faith, science is based on trials and proofs.

Spelling flames are old hat. It's my screwed-up keyboard...really! Science
is immature at best but has gathered a "flock" of believers that take it as
"religion".

To even assert such a thing is a clear admission of your ignorance of
science. Believing in science is not the same as following a religion.
Doesn't everyone know that?

Heard a fascinating interview with a Dr. Collins, head of the human Genome
project...does he qualify as a "Scientist" If so, we can continue this
discussion.
