I understand every bit of "We have lots of ammo" quite well. The British
also had lots of ammo in the 1770s. The difficulty for them back then is
the same difficulty we're facing now. We have lots of ammo and lots of
troops. But every time we kill one of them we have less ammo and we've
***** two or three formerly "peace-loving" Iraqis and added to the
number of insurgents. That formula works against us.

Actually...when they kill these days, they tend to most often kill
other Iraqis, with intent. This seems to be pissing off the Joe
Sixpack Iraqi. Their recruitment numbers are up.

Every time they kill one of ours they also have less ammo, but it adds to
the unpopularity of the war. Have you noticed that military recruitment is
way down? That formula also works against us. Would you reinstitute the
draft to see to it that we have "lots of soldiers" to utilize that "lots of
ammo"? If so, how long do you think it would take for the current
generation to start emulating my generation's youthful pacifism, marching in
the streets, chanting "One, two, three, four! We don't want your fucking
war!"

Of course not. On the other hand, we seem to be winning the hearts and
minds. Not that the media will show you that..but ask the vets.
