anyway, tell me more about your 4x4 desert experiences. that was interesting
stuff.
About the month I drove around in 45C+ without A/C, or the time I was
travelling along a dusty road beside a sand dune and a herd of camels ran
down the slope onto the road in front of me then ran along in front of me
for a couple of kilometres? Or maybe the time I was walking down to the
lake (dry, of course) to fly a kite and I noticed a piece of hose wrapped
around a spinifex clump. By the time I realised it wasn't a piece of hose I
had planted my foot about 12 inches away from it. Luckily it was looking
the other way but as it moved, I also moved - VERY FAST! Those King Browns
are not the most poisonous in Australia but they are a close third because
they hang on and keep pumping the venom in. The anti-venene has to be flown
in by the Flying Doctor. A 55 minute flight. The King Brown kills in around
45 minutes!
If you want to see the sand dunes and the lake - Google Earth and at lat
22.02.38S long 123.07.29E you can just make out the roads in the community
- you will also see the east-west road and our airstrip which is a little
way east. The lake is blue because the photo was taken a couple of years
ago just after a cyclone had dumped on us!
