The tsunami was a gigantic tragedy and my prayers go to all of the living
victims. However, do you realize that God doesn't increase death? 1 out of
every 1 person dies.
Of course that begs the question of why we have to die at all. If
there really were an all powerful god that loved us, it seems to
me that we wouldn't have to die.

Hi Denis,
Have you read the scriptures?
There are some things that are explained to us in the Bible. There are
other things that are conjecture. For instance, I could give you some
reasons for the answers I gave above, but they'd be from my own reasoning
based on the scriptural truth. You could probably come up with the same
answers as me, but I'd be happy to share if you wish.
God bless,

No. As I said, I have plenty of answers.
Have you read the scriptures? You seem to have forgotten or avoided that
question.
There are many reasons why the earthly bodies die. God wanted us to choose
Him. He gives us a duration of time to do this. Most people have from the
time that they are born until the time that their earthly body dies.
The death of our earthly bodies symbolizes the weakness of man. In our best
efforts, we can only live a brief time. In all of our scientific advances
and even with modern medicine, we still can't live over 150 years. It
reveals our serious need for redemption and eternal life from our Creator.
From the beginning, the scriptures have told us that the Earth will not last
forever. The Bible has told us about Heaven and how Heaven will be the
eternal destination of believers.
The Earth also symbolizes the temporary nature of the natural world. It was
created by God, yet intended to last a limited amount of time. Heaven was
designed to last for eternity.
The Bible teaches that we need heavenly bodies in Heaven. We cannot have
our earthly bodies. We will be given new bodies that will live forever.

Jason

No. As I said, I have plenty of answers.
But they only beg more questions.
Have you read the scriptures? You seem to have forgotten or avoided that
question.
You haven't answered my question yet.
But I'll answer yours.
No. No one has presented any evidence that reading it would be of any value
whatsoever.
There are many reasons why the earthly bodies die. God wanted us to
choose
Him. He gives us a duration of time to do this. Most people have from
the
time that they are born until the time that their earthly body dies.
That can be mere moments to 100+ years. Does that seem fair to you?
Also, you have provided no reason for the body to die. The death of the body
has nothing to do with the choice, does it? Why would a time limit make a
difference?
The death of our earthly bodies symbolizes the weakness of man.
Surely the creations of the god operate exactly as designed by the god.
Omniscience and omnipotence would assure that. Why did the god deliberately
make us weak?
In our best
efforts, we can only live a brief time. In all of our scientific advances
and even with modern medicine, we still can't live over 150 years. It
reveals our serious need for redemption and eternal life from our Creator.
Or more science and modern medicine. Are you saying that as medicine
increases our lifespans, we are less and less in need of redemption? If not,
then our lifespan does not mean what you are trying to suggest it means.
If that's the case, then you are trying to lie to me.
From the beginning, the scriptures have told us that the Earth will not
last
forever.
Why doesn't the god make it last forever?
The Bible has told us about Heaven and how Heaven will be the
eternal destination of believers.
Why didn't the god just make believers already in heaven? An omniscient
being has no need to test its creations since it already knows the results.
You seem to be asserting that the universe is a test to process souls into
two camps, heaven and hell. But the god is omnipotent and omniscient, it has
no need of processing or testing. It can simply create the camp of souls in
heaven, achieve its goal, and avoid all the evil involved in the unnecessary
testing and processing.
The Earth also symbolizes the temporary nature of the natural world. It
was
created by God, yet intended to last a limited amount of time. Heaven was
designed to last for eternity.
The whole natural world is unnecessary. If the god wants certain souls in
heaven, all it has to do is create them in heaven.
The Bible teaches that we need heavenly bodies in Heaven. We cannot have
our earthly bodies. We will be given new bodies that will live forever.
Why didn't the god just create the souls that were suitable for heaven, in
heaven, with the bodies that live forever? That avoids all the evils of this
world, and accomplishes the god's goals.
Supposedly, when it's all said and done, the god will be in heaven with a
bunch of souls. If that's the case, then the "all said and done" part is
completely unnecessary. The god can simply create the bunch of souls in
heaven. It's the same either way.

I understand God's laws and his justice, so yes. He is the Creator and the
rightful giver and taker of life. We are the creation who have sinned
against Him. Therefore, it is his right to give and take life as He sees
fit.
Also, you have provided no reason for the body to die. The death of
the body has nothing to do with the choice, does it? Why would a time
limit make a difference?
I provided a reason in a more recent post of mine. The answer is sin. Read
that post for an explanation.
The death of our earthly bodies symbolizes the weakness of man.
Surely the creations of the god operate exactly as designed by the
god. Omniscience and omnipotence would assure that. Why did the god
deliberately make us weak?
So we would rely on Him for strength.
In our best
efforts, we can only live a brief time. In all of our scientific
advances and even with modern medicine, we still can't live over 150
years. It reveals our serious need for redemption and eternal life
from our Creator.
Or more science and modern medicine. Are you saying that as medicine
increases our lifespans, we are less and less in need of redemption?
No. I told you that human weakness and the brevity of life revealed how we
needed salvation and eternal life from our Creator.
If not, then our lifespan does not mean what you are trying to
suggest it means.
How do you figure?
If that's the case, then you are trying to lie to me.
How do you figure?
From the beginning, the scriptures have told us that the Earth will
not last
forever.
Why doesn't the god make it last forever?
I don't know.
The Bible has told us about Heaven and how Heaven will be the
eternal destination of believers.
Why didn't the god just make believers already in heaven?
It wasn't His plan.
He wanted us to choose Him on Earth, so we could live in Heaven with Him.
An
omniscient being has no need to test its creations since it already
knows the results.
Already knowing the results has nothing to do with wanting your creation to
choose You and love You from free will.
You seem to be asserting that the universe is a
test to process souls into two camps, heaven and hell. But the god is
omnipotent and omniscient, it has no need of processing or testing.
It can simply create the camp of souls in heaven, achieve its goal,
and avoid all the evil involved in the unnecessary testing and
processing.
He could do a variety of things. However, what He did do is different than
what you think He should have done or should do.
The Earth also symbolizes the temporary nature of the natural world.
It was
created by God, yet intended to last a limited amount of time.
Heaven was designed to last for eternity.
The whole natural world is unnecessary. If the god wants certain
souls in heaven, all it has to do is create them in heaven.
You're missing the concept of choosing God and Him wanting us to choose Him
without creating us without the ability to choose.
If He created us in Heaven, then we wouldn't have the ability to choose Him.
All of Heaven worships God.
The Bible teaches that we need heavenly bodies in Heaven. We cannot
have our earthly bodies. We will be given new bodies that will live
forever.
Why didn't the god just create the souls that were suitable for
heaven, in heaven, with the bodies that live forever?
You may capitalize "God" when talking about the biblical God. You may also
refer to Him as "He" and not "it."
I already answered this question above.
That avoids all
the evils of this world, and accomplishes the god's goals.
Supposedly, when it's all said and done, the god will be in heaven
with a bunch of souls. If that's the case, then the "all said and
done" part is completely unnecessary. The god can simply create the
bunch of souls in heaven. It's the same either way.
It's not the same either way.

Jason

No. No one has presented any evidence that reading it would be of any
value whatsoever.
I'm sorry you feel this way.
Do you realize that it is the best-selling book in the world?
No. I shall have to research this claim. I am aware that many bibles are
given away, and left in hotel rooms. I am also aware that many purchased
bibles are never read. I do not know the proportion of bibles these
practices account for. If your claim turns out to be true, that would
constitute evidence that the bible may be or value.
I have read small portions of the bible, and spoken to many Christians. I
remain skeptical as to the value of the book as it claims many untrue
things.
There are many reasons why the earthly bodies die. God wanted us to
choose
Him. He gives us a duration of time to do this. Most people have

So the god is exempt from the rules it sets down for others. Yet the rules
it sets down are supposed to be the basis of morality. This clearly
indicates the god is not moral. Why do you worship an immoral or amoral god?
Also, you claim to understand the god's laws and its justice, enough to say
that it is fair. Does this mean you can tell who is due for a short or long
life?
If not, does your yes response simply mean you arbitrarily agree with every
judgment the god makes? In other words, you could claim a judgment from the
god is fair, but have no idea why. Is this the case?
Also, you have provided no reason for the body to die. The death of
the body has nothing to do with the choice, does it? Why would a time
limit make a difference?
I provided a reason in a more recent post of mine. The answer is sin.
Read
that post for an explanation.
The obvious reply would be "forgiveness".
The death of our earthly bodies symbolizes the weakness of man.
Surely the creations of the god operate exactly as designed by the
god. Omniscience and omnipotence would assure that. Why did the god
deliberately make us weak?
So we would rely on Him for strength.
So the god creates the problem and set itself up as the solution. This
tactic is called a protection racket. Choose one way, and everything is
fine, choose the other, and things go very badly.
It all depends on whether you are willing to capitulate to a bully.
In our best
efforts, we can only live a brief time. In all of our scientific
advances and even with modern medicine, we still can't live over 150
years. It reveals our serious need for redemption and eternal life
from our Creator.
Or more science and modern medicine. Are you saying that as medicine
increases our lifespans, we are less and less in need of redemption?
No. I told you that human weakness and the brevity of life revealed how
we
needed salvation and eternal life from our Creator.
But that clearly means that if we can extend our life spans and correct our
weaknesses, then we DON'T need salvation and eternal life from our creator.
If not, then our lifespan does not mean what you are trying to
suggest it means.
How do you figure?
You stated quite clearly that a short life span revealed a need for
redemption. Obviously, that means a longer life span reveals less of a need
for redemption, does it not?
If that's the case, then you are trying to lie to me.
How do you figure?
Because you are holding up a short life span as a reason for redemption, yet
when that reason is satisfied by a longer life span, you refuse to abandon
the need for redemption. Clearly you do NOT feel a short life span reveals a
need for redemption even though you say you do.
The word "so" in your answer means that we living in heaven with the god is
the ultimate goal the god is after. There is no reason the god could not
simply create that end state. The plan is unnecessary. The idea of a plan is
meaningless to an omnipotent being. It means you have to go through steps to
get the desired result, and omnipotent beings don't have to do that, they
just create the desired result.
An
omniscient being has no need to test its creations since it already
knows the results.
Already knowing the results has nothing to do with wanting your creation
to
choose You and love You from free will.
But the god knows who will and who won't already. There are no surprises for
the god.
It can simply create the end-state with perfect knowledge. There would be no
difference.
However, what He did do is different
than
what you think He should have done or should do.
Yes. In order to judge the god we must evaluate its supposed behavior,
otherwise we are merely indulging in blind faith. Surely your judgments
concerning the god and the fairness of it's justice are based on its
purported behavior.
Its decision to incorporate unnecessary evil and suffering to achieve its
ends seems to coincide with your claim that it does not follow moral laws.
You're missing the concept of choosing God and Him wanting us to choose
Him
without creating us without the ability to choose.
The result is the same. There is no difference.
If He created us in Heaven, then we wouldn't have the ability to choose
Him.
All of Heaven worships God.
The god already knows who will choose it and who will not. The end result is
the same either way.
No, that is not its name.
You may also
refer to Him as "He" and not "it."
It is not human. It is an it.
The result is identical.

Why? What's the point of the earthly bodies dying?
You're right about living forever . . . but not on Earth and
not in the flesh.
Why not on earth, and why not in the flesh?
Hi Denis,
Have you read the scriptures?
There are some things that are explained to us in the Bible.
There are other things that are conjecture. For instance, I
could give you some reasons for the answers I gave above, but
they'd be from my own reasoning based on the scriptural truth.
You could probably come up with the same answers as me, but I'd
be happy to share if you wish.
So in other words, you have no answer to my questions.
No. As I said, I have plenty of answers.
But they only beg more questions.
Have you read the scriptures? You seem to have forgotten or
avoided that question.
You haven't answered my question yet.
But I'll answer yours.
No. No one has presented any evidence that reading it would be of
any value whatsoever.
I'm sorry you feel this way.
Do you realize that it is the best-selling book in the world?
No. I shall have to research this claim. I am aware that many bibles
are given away, and left in hotel rooms. I am also aware that many
purchased bibles are never read. I do not know the proportion of
bibles these practices account for. If your claim turns out to be
true, that would constitute evidence that the bible may be or value.
Yes, please do. Found anything so far?
I have read small portions of the bible, and spoken to many
Christians. I remain skeptical as to the value of the book as it
claims many untrue things.
Can you verify that it claims many untrue things? Or do you just believe
it? In other words, do you simply disagree with claims regarding the
distant past or do you have solid proof that certain claims are false?
There are many reasons why the earthly bodies die. God wanted us
to choose
Him. He gives us a duration of time to do this. Most people have
from the
time that they are born until the time that their earthly body
dies.
That can be mere moments to 100+ years. Does that seem fair to you?
I understand God's laws and his justice, so yes. He is the Creator
and the
rightful giver and taker of life. We are the creation who have
sinned against Him. Therefore, it is his right to give and take
life as He sees fit.
So the god is exempt from the rules it sets down for others. Yet the
rules it sets down are supposed to be the basis of morality. This
clearly indicates the god is not moral. Why do you worship an immoral
or amoral god?
God has a nature and a character. And yes, He doesn't have to follow every
law He gave to man. However, this doesn't make Him immoral or amoral.
As the Creator of life, it is his privilege to also take life as He sees
fit. This is not immoral. This is divine justice.
Also, you claim to understand the god's laws and its justice, enough
to say that it is fair. Does this mean you can tell who is due for a
short or long life?
I can sometimes do this. However, all have sinned, so all deserve justice
and all are very blessed when we receive grace instead.
If not, does your yes response simply mean you arbitrarily agree with

judgment from the god is fair, but have no idea why. Is this the case?

Can you verify that it claims many untrue things? Or do you just believe

No. For instance, I have personally counted the number of legs on insects.
It does not match that given in the bible. You can perform the same
experiment yourself.
In other words, do you simply disagree with claims regarding the
distant past or do you have solid proof that certain claims are false?
I have the findings of science, which has earned my confidence due to the
continual development of technologies that would not otherwise work if
science was not accurate in its findings. In other words, I have confidence
that science is on the right track because technology works, as evidenced by
the technology you are utilizing to read this post.
The findings of science contradict much of what is in the bible. Science can
provide solid evidence to back up its claims, while the bible can only offer
written assertions.
My confidence must side with science at this time.
There are many reasons why the earthly bodies die. God wanted us

God has a nature and a character.
That is irrelevant. Man has a nature and character, yet is held to the laws.
And yes, He doesn't have to follow every
law He gave to man. However, this doesn't make Him immoral or amoral.
Yes it does. If the laws define what is immoral, then those behaviors are
immoral regardless of who performs them.
As the Creator of life, it is his privilege to also take life as He sees
fit. This is not immoral. This is divine justice.
If the laws say the taking of life is immoral, then it is immoral. If a law
has an exception, then it is not a law.
Also, you claim to understand the god's laws and its justice, enough
to say that it is fair. Does this mean you can tell who is due for a

I can sometimes do this.
Ah. This is a claim that can be tested.
Have you performed a double-blind experiment to confirm this power?
However, all have sinned, so all deserve justice
and all are very blessed when we receive grace instead.
So it is better, in your opinion, to receive grace instead of the perfect
justice the god has determined you deserve. Do you believe the justice to be
too harsh? Do you believe the god to be wrong in its determination as to
what you deserve?
Again, why do you worship such a thing.
If not, does your yes response simply mean you arbitrarily agree with
every judgment the god makes? In other words, you could claim a

You clearly stated that the god made us weak for a reason, and that reason
is so that we would have to rely on the god. I can see no other way to
interpret what you have written.
He created all
things. His creation chose sin.
That is like saying the the god wrote a program to add two numbers, and the
program added two numbers. The god knew exactly what the creation would do,
and created it anyway, thus assuring that it would be weak and choose sin.
Afterwards, He implemented a plan of
redemption.
Why? Why would the god implement a way for its creation to avoid its own
perfect and righteous justice? Are you suggesting the god itself thought its
own justice was too harsh, or imperfect in some way?
It all depends on whether you are willing to capitulate to a bully.
In our best

Analogy? This was not presented as an analogy. You clearly stated that our
short life span is one indicator of our need for redemption and eternal
life. No analogy was involved that I am aware of.
Are you now saying our short life span is NOT an indicator of our need for
redemption and eternal life?
Even if we could lead a sinless life, which nobody every will, we still
have
imputed sin from Adam that we inherit.
This still does not explain why the physical body has to die.
Extending our lifespans will never grant us eternal life.
Granted. Proton decay will eventually put an end to all things.
So you are stating that our short life spans are not an indication that we
need redemption and eternal life.
If not, then our lifespan does not mean what you are trying to
suggest it means.
How do you figure?
You stated quite clearly that a short life span revealed a need for
redemption. Obviously, that means a longer life span reveals less of
a need for redemption, does it not?
As I said, I made a simple analogy and you are taking it to an extreme

I still fail to find an analogy.

True, what little I know of it, I don't like. However, this does not answer
the point that process is irrelevant to omnipotent beings.
With all due

Atheists usually don't find anything positive about protection rackets, this

But all those that die prematurely have not necessarily sinned to the

If you agree with the above premise, then is it a subjective decision
whom gets struck down?
If so, why would you consider your God to be objective?
If not, how are these different sins ranked?
For arguments sake lets only talk about Christinas who beg God to
forgive their sins. people who you believe are saved. Of course maybe
non of these people die prematurely? But I doubt that.

Ah. This is a claim that can be tested.
Have you performed a double-blind experiment to confirm this power?
Unless Jason is just touring the cancer ward, telling the people
there that they're not going to live long, maybe he should talk
to James Randi. He could win $1,000,000.
If he can do better than chance...

q1.
There's a 53 year old I know who invited a young woman who was homeless to
stay with him in his flat for the winter, in the hope he would get some sex
out of it once she got cleaned up. She invited another young woman, he
thought "ah, more chance for sex for me" and let her stay. The next time I
see him, they have got him on drugs - heroine no less, and he is sitting in
the corner while they turn tricks in the brothel they have turned his home
into, and they've got the mafia knocking at the door saying why is there a
brothel going on here that isn't affiliated?
Will this 53 year old man most likely live another
A) 6 months
B) 6 years
C) 60 years
D) 600 years?

Here's a tougher one. Look at a hospital nursery, and identify which babies
are going to die of crib death within the next 6 months.
You have to start at the beginning, cause its too easy to say who is going
to die soon when you choose the moment between the pulling of the trigger
and the splattering of the brains to make your "prediction".

Do you realize that it is the best-selling book in the world?
No. I shall have to research this claim. I am aware that many bibles
are given away, and left in hotel rooms. I am also aware that many
purchased bibles are never read. I do not know the proportion of
bibles these practices account for. If your claim turns out to be
true, that would constitute evidence that the bible may be or value.
Yes, please do. Found anything so far?
No, why bother? Supposing Harry Potter outsells the bible, should we
believe in magic? You call upon a version of argumentam ad numeram.
I have read small portions of the bible, and spoken to many
Christians. I remain skeptical as to the value of the book as it
claims many untrue things.
Can you verify that it claims many untrue things?
Definitely. Why can't you? Haven't you read the book?
Or do you just believe
it? In other words, do you simply disagree with claims regarding the
distant past or do you have solid proof that certain claims are false?
Plenty of biblical claims have been proven false. Only an
insignificant number of xtians deny it.
Hitler did just about the same. Why is he immoral then?
As the Creator of life, it is his privilege to also take life as He sees
fit. This is not immoral. This is divine justice.
Yes, the argument of the potter. <snoooorrrrr>
Also, you claim to understand the god's laws and its justice, enough
to say that it is fair. Does this mean you can tell who is due for a
short or long life?
I can sometimes do this. However, all have sinned, so all deserve justice
and all are very blessed when we receive grace instead.
I asked you many times why eating cow is not a sin, though it is a sin
in Hinduism, whilst eating pork -strictly forbidden in your bible!-
isn't a sin.
Care to answer that one?
So the god creates the problem and set itself up as the solution. This
tactic is called a protection racket. Choose one way, and everything
is fine, choose the other, and things go very badly.
Saying that God created the problem isn't exactly correct. He created all
things. His creation chose sin. Afterwards, He implemented a plan of
redemption.
Nonsense. If your gods didn't create sin, his creation couldn't choose
it. The plan is too silly for words anyway: god created sin (or
entrapped A&E to eat an apple), punished every living being for it
repeatedly, then killed himself (jesus is god, after all) for less
than 48 hrs to atone for his error.
But that clearly means that if we can extend our life spans and
correct our weaknesses, then we DON'T need salvation and eternal life
from our creator.
You're taking my simple analogy to an extreme that makes it incorrect.
You hold the monopoly on analogies? YOU stated that live is shortened
because of sin. It follows if someone does not sin, s/he will either
live for ever or at least a couple of centuries.
Even if we could lead a sinless life, which nobody every will, we still have
imputed sin from Adam that we inherit.
So I can hang you for crimes committed by one of your ancestors?
Extending our lifespans will never grant us eternal life.
You really don't know the meaning of 'eternal' don't you?
You stated quite clearly that a short life span revealed a need for
redemption. Obviously, that means a longer life span reveals less of
a need for redemption, does it not?
As I said, I made a simple analogy and you are taking it to an extreme that
makes it incorrect.
Ah, that monopoly again. Sorry.
The word "so" in your answer means that we living in heaven with the
god is the ultimate goal the god is after. There is no reason the god
could not simply create that end state. The plan is unnecessary. The
idea of a plan is meaningless to an omnipotent being. It means you
have to go through steps to get the desired result, and omnipotent
beings don't have to do that, they just create the desired result.
This is nothing more than you saying you don't like His plan. With all due
respect, this is quite common among atheists.
Why do more than 20.000 xtian churches differ what the plan is all
about?

Hi Denis,

Do you realize that it doesn't matter anyway?
There are many reasons why the earthly bodies die. God wanted us to
choose
Him. He gives us a duration of time to do this. Most people have
from the
time that they are born until the time that their earthly body dies.
That can be mere moments to 100+ years. Does that seem fair to you?
I understand God's laws and his justice, so yes. He is the Creator and the
rightful giver and taker of life. We are the creation who have sinned
against Him. Therefore, it is his right to give and take life as He sees
fit.
IOW: might makes right. Sickening.
