Assume God is only a story told by millions of people. I am only a story told by trillions of
cells. God and I have the same ontological status -- we either both exist or both do not exist.

Reductionism takes people into strange places. The question is, to
whom is the story being told?

Perhaps a blind watchmaker.
Reductionism by itself leads to infinite regress, but I don't think
reductionism
is the, um, Whole Story. I cannot live without my liver, but there
would be
no liver without a me to have it.

Nonsense. In your reality which consists solely of ideas, you can live
without your liver if you can form the idea that you can live without
your liver.

... but there would be no liver without a me to have it.

Baloney. In an era of organ transplants we can easily see that a liver
can be separated from the rest of you. In fact, this liver could live on
in a different body even after your death.

For that matter, many organs can and have been kept alive for long periods
of time without being in any body at all.

Your liver doesn't care about that. It is not equipped to be aware of
its own existence. Your stomach, on the other hand, is. I wonder what
it thinks of you.
