will be a bloody civil war in Iraq when U.S. forces leave, be it next
spring, next week, 12 years from now...
Iraq is an artificially created entity, its borders drawn arbitrarily after
the first World War. Shi'ites, Sunnis, and Kurds bear internecine grudges
that were suppressed only by Bathist oppression and it is inevitable those
populations will clash. George WMD Bush's ill begotten adventure cannot and
will not prevent it.
The only "WMDs" Saddam Hussein ever had were provided by Rumsfeld, Cheney,
et al when they were operatives in the Reagan administration. That arsenal

troops, leadership to train the American rebels, and the navy that kept
the British Navy from bringing its overwhelming power to bear by
spreading the war around the world. It appears there were more French
soldiers involved in the American Revolution than American soldiers.
Louis XVI bankrupted his country in that war. It cost him his head, and
forced Napoleon to agree to the Louisiana Purchase to fund his wars.

So what you are saying is the French had a vested financial interest in the
Revolutionary War? They weren't doing it so the US could be free in that

The French were engaged in a struggle for European domination with
Britain. They probably looked at it as analogous to the US support given
to small countries during the Cold War.
