Re: So you think there is a God? |
The news of the event has shown deprivation of such mangitude, that it can
be considered shocking devastation. In light of the exigency regarding the
aforementioned catastrophe, I appreciate that the disruptions might vary in
some affected areas. Thank-you for your discussion in this thread. And also
your perspectives.
Thinking of you!

DG,
I'm expecting power failure at any minute due to Hurricane Katrina. They
are saying it could be out 1-2 wks. Hope not! Anyway, thanks for the post
and I will respond when power returns. I need to spend this time taking
care of my elderly parents, in-laws, wife and children. I look forward to
continuing our dialogue. Take care my friend......Terry Ivy

I note that Terry Ivy has posted again since his Mon, 29 Aug 2005
07:07:01 -0500 indicating an "expectant power failure at any minute due
to Hurricane Katrina. They are saying it could be out 1-2 wks."
The following is noted:
a) The family are all doing well, having survived the destruction of
Katrina
b) Terry Ivy resumed posting on Tue, 6 Sep 2005 09:06:42 -0500 and has
not sought to fulfill his obligations by returning to this discussion
thread and conveying such news.
c) The expression of 'Take care, my brother' and 'Take care my friend'
seem frequently used by the individual within their messages--it
appears to be a meaningless American cliche.
d) The term 'take care my friend' has by 11 September 2005, solicited
no response or acknowledgement of concern from Dianelos Georgoudis a
philosophy student, who believes the God of the Old Testament is a
vengeful and genocidal benefactor.
"Religion can be discussed within the conceptual frame of spiritual
truth. Or it can be discussed within the conceptual frame of a social
phenomenon and popular ideology. What I care about is to discuss
spiritual truth.
Now, according to fundamental understanding in Christianity, Christ is
the way to God, and that way is love. To be a disciple of Jesus is to
love as Jesus loved. Any person who loves like that comes closer to God
and is disciple of Christ.
Therefore Christian ideology, tradition, the churches, etc. are only
one possible means to help one achieve that goal. But what counts in
truth is the goal. If we accept that God is the perfect being, then I
think it is self-evident that God does not value labels, external signs
of devotion, and any trace of fanaticism, ideological pride,
aggressiveness, or a magical interpretation of religion.
Labels, such as who is a Christian and who is a Muslim are only
relevant to the respective religious institutions that need to quantify
their flock, and to governments which throughout history (up to modern
US) have found in religion a useful tool to put their citizens in line.
But God is love, and in a fundamental sense what is real in the eyes of
God as far as each one of us goes is the love we engender in our
hearts. What particular church we attend or religious ideology we hold
(or don't hold) is entirely secondary..." ["Dianelos Georgoudis"

Chuck,
Greetings brother. Thanks for the compliment. I consider any thing
which is
not constructive, especially to a brother or sister in Christ, to be
judgmental. Please pray that my speech will "always be seasoned with
salt
and minister grace to the hearers."
My family is doing well, having survived the destruction of Katrina.
Many
of our friends lost everything! Some we have not been able to find and
get
a hold of. We believe they are alive, we just do not know where they
are
at. Some other friends of mine lost up to 2 million dollars worth of
timber
and are facing bankruptcy. Anyway, please keep us in your prayers,
especially that we could find and minister to those whom the Lord has
orchastrated for us to help.
Brother, my absence is due as a result of meeting with government
officials, relief organizations and personally delivering food, money,
gas,
generators and clothing to those in need. Lord willing, I'll still be
able
to drop in at least once a week. Thanks for your prayers and I send my
love
to you and your family. Take care, my brother!
