THIS IS AN ACTION to evict the former 'regs' of the usenet newsgroup
alt.tasteless.jokes..

IT IS ADJUDGED that:

Current regs are hereby demoted to lurkers and guests of ATJ and may
continue to read or post as such.

Whenever any Form of Usenet newsgroup becomes bothersome and downright
boring, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and
to institute new regs, laying its foundation on such principles and
organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely
to effect their Entertainment and Freedom to Annoy.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that newsgroups long established should
not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all
experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while
evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms
to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and
usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to
reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their
duty, to throw off such regs, and to provide new Guards for their
future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of these
posters; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter
the former System.

We, therefore, the Representatives of alt.tasteless.jokes, in General
Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for
the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by the Authority
of God, solemnly publish and declare, That these posters are, and of
Right ought to be Free and Independent posters; that they are Absolved
from all Allegiance to the current regs ..not that there was any..,
and that all political connection between them and the current regs,
is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent
posters, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract
Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things
which Independent posters may of right do. And for the support of this
Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine
Providence, we mutually pledge our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred
Honor.

This action was tried before a court of impartial posters and, on the
evidence presented, does hereby remise, release and quit-claim unto
the said second party forever, all the right, title, interest, claim
and demand which the said first party has in and to the following
described newsgroup lying and being in the public community of Usenet,
to wit: alt.tasteless.jokes

In addition to all current regs, the unknown spouses, heirs, devisees,
grantees, assignees, creditors, trustees, successors in interest or
other parties claiming an interest in the subject newsgroup by,
through, under or against any of the said regs, whether natural or
corporate, who are not known to be alive or dead, dissolved or
existing, are joined as defendants herein. The claims of any of said
parties are subject, subordinate, and inferior to the interest of the
NEW ATJ.
