Isa. 60:21
"Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the
land for ever, _the branch_ of my planting, the work of my hands,
that I may be glorified.
Isa 61:3,
"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them
beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of
praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called
_trees of righteousness_, the planting of the LORD, that he might
be glorified.
Notice that Isaiah quotes the LORD as using the phrase "my
planting" and "planting of the LORD" to refer to the House of
Israel and House of Judah, His People, Israel.
Rom 11:17
"And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a
wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them
partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree...
Now Paul acknowledges that God's People are the Olive Tree, and
states that the Gentiles are grafted in, or adopted, into God's
People, the Olive Tree.
Luke 24:48,
"And ye are witnesses of these things.
Here Luke records Jesus' words naming His followers "Witnesses..."
Acts 1:8,
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come
upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem,
and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of
the earth.
Again, Jesus names His disciples "Witnesses..."
Heb.12:1.
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a
cloud of witnesses..."
All God's People are Witnesses: first, to other believers; and
second to unbelievers in "the uttermost part of the earth."
This; "you are witnesses," and "unto the uttermost part of the
earth" cannot be limited as to persons or to time.
That is, first,
All Christ's followers are Witnesses "of these things." Not as in
"all" of us in the first person -- that we saw Christ and His
works, but "all of us" in that we believe IN Christ and His Work.
and second,
that all His followers and disciples are to, and will witness,
and have witnessed to all the world from that time, and will
continue to witness unto the last days.
Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they
shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days,
clothed in sackcloth.
4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks
standing before the God of the earth.
The two witnesses are
a) The Congregation Israel, the blood descendents of Abraham who
receive Christ as the Messiah, and
b) The Congregation Gentile, the grafted in sons; adopted, as
Ephraim and Manasseh were adopted by Jacob.
As in the days of the Apostils, the Ecclesia of God's People
contained both Jew and Gentile who witnessed for Christ, so in
these last days will the Ecclesia of God's People, the witnesses,
be both Jew and Gentiles, the faithful witnesses, the Elect,
Saints, Brethren.
