So how's the business of putting people to Death?
Exo 31:15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of
rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he
shall surely be put to death.
Lev 24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely
be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as
well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the
name of the LORD, shall be put to death.
Josh 1:18 Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and
will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall
be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
2 Chr 15:13 That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be
put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
having sex with an unmarried woman was "rape." btw- Deuteronomy is a
set of laws from aprox. 1406 BC.
God's laws, eh? So they don't count if you deem them to be too old or archaic?
A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death
by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death.
(Leviticus 20:27 NAB)
Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)
But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night),
and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to
the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to
death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her
father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. (Deuteronomy
22:20-21 NAB)
One day a man who had an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father got into a
fight with one of the Israelite men. During the fight, this son of an Israelite
woman blasphemed the LORD's name. So the man was brought to Moses for judgment.
His mother's name was Shelomith. She was the daughter of Dibri of the tribe of
Dan. They put the man in custody until the LORD's will in the matter should
become clear. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Take the blasphemer outside the
camp, and tell all those who heard him to lay their hands on his head. Then let
the entire community stone him to death. Say to the people of Israel: Those who
blaspheme God will suffer the consequences of their guilt and be punished.
Anyone who blasphemes the LORD's name must be stoned to death by the whole
community of Israel. Any Israelite or foreigner among you who blasphemes the
LORD's name will surely die. (Leviticus 24:10-16 NLT)
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. While he was on his way, some small
boys came out of the city and jeered at him. "Go up baldhead," they shouted,
"go up baldhead!" The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in the
name of the Lord. Then two shebears came out of the woods and tore forty two of
the children to pieces. (2 Kings 2:23-24 NAB)
Kill Sons of Sinners
Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their fathers; Lest they
rise and posses the earth, and fill the breadth of the world with tyrants.
(Isaiah 14:21 NAB)
The glory of Israel will fly away like a bird, for your children will die at
birth or perish in the womb or never even be conceived. Even if your children
do survive to grow up, I will take them from you. It will be a terrible day
when I turn away and leave you alone. I have watched Israel become as beautiful
and pleasant as Tyre. But now Israel will bring out her children to be
slaughtered." O LORD, what should I request for your people? I will ask for
wombs that don't give birth and breasts that give no milk. The LORD says, "All
their wickedness began at Gilgal; there I began to hate them. I will drive them
from my land because of their evil actions. I will love them no more because
all their leaders are rebels. The people of Israel are stricken. Their roots
are dried up; they will bear no more fruit. And if they give birth, I will
slaughter their beloved children." (Hosea 9:11-16 NLT)
All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a
capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT)
If a man commits adultery with another man's wife, both the man and the
woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT)
A priest's daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and
thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death. (Leviticus 21:9
NAB)
More Rape and Baby Killing
Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little
children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be
sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the
Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The
attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have
no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children.
(Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

In the days pre-Christ, we see how things are being prepared for his coming,
thousands of years before he does. While it could me a literal "death
sentence" it is more likely that we are talking about the natural
consequences of work without rest. It should also be noted that during the
time of Moses, up to the time of Christ - there is a point that is being
made by all of these tough rules. We can look at most any of the rules and
think that they could be followed, but when taken as a whole - perfection
(righteousness) is impossible. The WHOLE POINT of the pre-Christ texts is
to point out our inability to be without sin - our inability to be perfect,
and thus our inability on our own merits to be with God, and our need for
Christ.
18tn This clause is all from one word, the Piel plural participle with a
third, feminine suffix: hyl#l=j^m= (mehalleyha), "defilers of it." This form
serves as the subject of the sentence. The word llj (halal) is the antonym
of vdq (qadas), "to be holy." It means "common, profane," and in the Piel
stem "make common, profane" or "defile." Treating the Sabbath like an
ordinary day would profane it, make it common.

Yes, they are old and archaic - they were written pre-Christ. Does that

Some of the worst attrocities alleged to have occured in the
old testament were alleged to have been commited BY God, or
at the least *commanded* by God to be commited by people.
I'm glad I don't believe God exists because if I did I'd have
to be in opposition to him, on ethical grounds, and that would
mean a lot of pain and suffering personally for me.

coming, thousands of years before he does.
Well call those the Jewish days, since the OT / Talmud and that time
period before the supposed "christ" are the basis of their faith.
What we do see is a perverse, vindictive, violent murderous "god" commanding
his idiot followers to all manner of grotesque debauchery and violence.
While it could me a
literal "death sentence" it is more likely that we are talking about
the natural consequences of work without rest.
Really? And you've cleared that interpretation with the Holy See?
Do tell us what sects of christianity officially subscribe to your
watered down, kindler, gentler, not really the immutable inerrant
literal word of god interpretation.
It should also be
noted that during the time of Moses, up to the time of Christ - there
is a point that is being made by all of these tough rules.
And the point of rape, murder, pillage, perversion, slavery is what, exactly?
We can
look at most any of the rules and think that they could be followed,
So you are saying the rules/laws of god in the babble are mere suggestions,
not "commands" that must be followed?
but when taken as a whole - perfection (righteousness) is impossible.
When taken as a whole, they wouldn't even lead anywhere near "perfection".
Are you claiming that the Pope isn't "righteous" ...?
The WHOLE POINT of the pre-Christ texts is to point out our inability
to be without sin -
Didn't need the entire OT to illustrate that, and since "sin" is defined
perversely
by your capricious god-creature, it is mostly irrelevant.
our inability to be perfect, and thus our
inability on our own merits to be with God, and our need for Christ.
Gee, and this from the same god that created it all, and has the infinite power
to make/change things? He deliberately created beings unable to attain the
perfection that he desired, then held them accountable and punished them
for their lack of perfection, then sent down a placebo 10,000's years after
the fact to try and cure it ...and 2000 years later is still failing miserably?
18tn This clause is all from one word, the Piel plural participle

"common, profane," and in the Piel stem "make common, profane" or
"defile." Treating the Sabbath like an ordinary day would profane it,
make it common.
So you are claiming that all the subsequent translated texts of the Holey
Babble, all the modern English versions, all the versions beyond
the original ancient Aramaic, Old Hebrew, tongues are wrong,
and therefore not actually the inerrant literal word of god?
Have you informed the ecclesiasty of all the sects of modern
xtianity of your astounding claim/interpretation?
Lev 24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall
surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly
stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land,
when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.
Again, this is a spiritual death, not necessarily a physical one.
Again, what sects of modern xtianity/Judaism share your kinder, gentler
interpretation? Do be specific and give us a list.
Josh 1:18 Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment,
and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him,
he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
2 Chr 15:13 That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel
should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
This clinches what I've been saying. How does any MAN know another's
heart?
You clearly know mine, StinkFish, doesn't take Columbo to
divine that one ...even your pals Uncle Spammy and Chas
are certain of my "heart". Won't you please put me to death?
This is not a literal physical death, but a spiritual one -
one where a persons soul is eternally separated from God.

Yes, they are old and archaic - they were written pre-Christ.
So Judaism and the Talmud / OT are *****?
Does
that mean there are no laws/rules now? No. Read the NT. Christ
changed the gameplan, bigtime.
So Judaism and the Talmud / OT are *****?
So do tell us why the perverse bigoted and racist modern day
"preachers" are so fond to quote and demand enforcement of
the sick and insane OT "laws".
Again, I want to be clear, are you claiming that "christ" and the NT,
erase and obliterate any/all rules/laws/commands in the OT, or are you
offering the salad-bar version of xtianity, where one can reject/ignore
whichever archaic, perverse OT laws that may be inconvenient to their
life, while demanding that other archaic, perverse OT laws be strictly
applied to their neighbors?

all the patient findings of thinking minds through

on us; who would invade our schools and libraries and
