Young Susie was having trouble with her computer so she called Wes, the
computer guy, over to her desk. Wes clicked a couple buttons and solved the
problem.
As he was walking away Susie called after him, "So, what was wrong?" And he
replied, "It was an 'ID ten T' error." A puzzled expression ran riot over
Susie's face. " 'An ID ten T' error? What's that, in case I need to fix it
again?" He gave her a grin. "Haven't you ever seen an 'ID ten T' error
before?" Susie replied, "No." "Write it down," he said, "and I think you'll
figure it out." . . . . . . . . . . I D 1 0 T

who'd want to trust you fag boy?
If Architects Worked Like Software Developers
Dear Architect:
Please design and build me a house. I am not quite sure of what I need, so
you should use your discretion.
My house should have between two and forty-five bedrooms. Just make sure the
plans are such that the bedrooms can be easily added or deleted. When you
bring the blueprints to me, I will make the final decision of what I want.
Also, bring me the cost breakdown for each configuration so that I can
arbitrarily pick one.
Keep in mind that the house I ultimately choose must cost less than the one
I am currently living in. Make sure, however, that you correct all the
deficiencies that exist in my current house (the floor of my kitchen
vibrates when I walk across it, and the walls don't have nearly enough
insulation in them).
As you design, also keep in mind that I want to keep yearly maintenance
costs as low as possible. This should mean the incorporation of extra-cost
features like aluminum, vinyl or composite siding. (If you choose not to
specify aluminum, be prepared to explain your decision in detail.)
Please take care that modern design practices and the latest materials are
used in construction of the house, as I want it to be a showplace for the
most up-to-date ideas and methods. Be alerted, however, that the kitchen
should be designed to accommodate, among other things, my 1952 Gibson
refrigerator.
To ensure that you are building the correct house for our entire family,
make certain that you contact each of our children, and also our in- laws.
My mother-in-law will have very strong feelings about how the house should
be designed, since she visits us at least once a year. Make sure that you
weigh all of these options carefully and come to the right decision. I,
however, retain the right to overrule any choices that you make.
Please don't bother me with small details right now. Your job is to develop
the overall plans for the house: get the big picture. At this time, for
example, it is not appropriate to be choosing the color of the carpet.
However, keep in mind that my wife likes blue.
Also, do not worry at this time about acquiring the resources to build the
house itself. Your first priority is to develop detailed plans and
specifications. Once I approve these plans, however, I would expect the
house to be under roof within 48 hours.
While you are designing this house specifically for me, keep in mind that
sooner or later I will have to sell it to someone else. It therefore should
have appeal to a wide variety of potential buyers. Please make sure before
you finalize the plans that there is a consensus of the population in my
area that they like the features this house has.
I advise you to run up and look at my neighbour's house that he constructed
last year. We like it a great deal. It has many features that we would also
like in our new home, particularly the 25 meter swimming pool. With careful
engineering, I believe that you can design this into our new home without
impacting the final cost.
Please prepare a complete set of blueprints. It is not necessary at this
time to do the real design, since they will be used only for construction
bids. Be advised, however, that you will be held accountable for any
increase of construction costs as a result of later design changes.
You must be thrilled to be working on as interesting a project as this! To
be able to use the latest techniques and materials and to be given such
freedom in your designs is something that can't happen very often. Contact
me as soon as possible with your complete ideas and plans.
P.S.
My wife has just told me that she disagrees with many of the instructions
that I've given you in this letter. As architect, it is your responsibility
to resolve these differences. I have tried in the past and have been unable
to accomplish this. If you can't handle this responsibility, I will have to
find another architect.
P.P.S.
Perhaps what I need is not a house at all, but a travel trailer. Please
advise me as soon as possible if this is the case.

hope you don't trust MSIE, because there is a new exploit out and it is so
bad, it's rated "extremely critical". and there is no patch for it yet.
i think Microsoft's security flaws are going to sink it. it's just a matter
of time before large companies all over the world abandon the Microsoft
platform for their servers and migrate their desktops to a custom in-house
version of Linux.
the WINS service has a security hole. there is a patch for Win 2003 server,
but not for NT, and Microsoft is no longer supporting NT, even though it is
still very widely deployed. WINS, btw, is used to translate a NetBIOS name
into an IP address. You should use DNS for name resolution, but Microsoft
Exchange server won't work without WINS.
Microsoft viewed their WINS service as superior to DNS, because WINS
automatically discovers what machines are on a network and dynamically
builds up a lookup table of NetBIOS names and their corresponding IP
addresses. DNS, otoh, is a manually configured system. It discovers nothing.
You tell it what exists on the network.
There was a idea long ago about dynamically allocating IP addresses, which
was adopted. Instead of manually configuring each workstation to have a
specific IP, let the workstation request an IP from a DHCP server. Ditto for
dial-up accounts - they get whatever IP is available in the range for the
time that the machine is connected. This method was favoured for two
reasons: 1) IP addresses are limited (under the current IP address system)
and 2) workstations don't need to be permanently assigned IP addresses,
which would mean having to keep track of all IPs allocated.
As it turns out, this method has some serious flaws. It would be preferable
to have permanently allocated IP addresses, so that a particular machine can
always be tracked. If the IP address of a device is subject to change, it
attains a measure of anonymity which is a security risk. The other problem
is that the way TCP/IP routes packets is that a local network must consist
of IP addresses in a contiguous range. It cannot have a hotpotch of IPs.
That would have to change. System administrators would have to specify
(individually) all the IP addresses in their local network

who wrote that up for you fag boy?
Talented Frog
A woman went into a store to buy her husband a pet for his birthday. After
looking around, she found that all the pets were very expensive. She told
the clerk she wanted to buy a pet, but she didn't want to spend a fortune.
"Well," said the clerk, "I have a very large bullfrog. They say it's been
trained to give blowjobs !"
"Blowjobs!", the woman replied.
"It hasn't been proven, but we've sold 30 of them this month," he said.
The woman thought it would be a great gag gift, and what if it's true...no
more blowjobs for her ! She bought the frog. When she explained froggy's
ability to her husband, he was extremely skeptical and laughed it off.
The woman went to bed happy, thinking she may never need to perform this
less than riveting act again.
In the middle the night, she was awakened by the noise of pots and pans
flying everywhere, making hellacious banging and crashing sounds. She ran
downstairs to the kitchen, only to find her husband and the frog reading
cookbooks.
"What are you two doing at this hour?" she asked.
The husband replied," If I can teach this frog to cook, your ***** is gone."

of time before large companies all over the world abandon the Microsoft
platform for their servers and migrate their desktops to a custom
in-house
version of Linux.
the WINS service has a security hole. there is a patch for Win 2003
server,
but not for NT, and Microsoft is no longer supporting NT, even though it
is
still very widely deployed. WINS, btw, is used to translate a NetBIOS
name
into an IP address.
It discovers
nothing.
You tell it what exists on the network.
There was a idea long ago about dynamically allocating IP addresses,
which
was adopted. Instead of manually configuring each workstation to have a
specific IP, let the workstation request an IP from a DHCP server. Ditto
for
dial-up accounts - they get whatever IP is available in the range for the
time that the machine is connected. This method was favoured for two
reasons: 1) IP addresses are limited (under the current IP address
system)
and 2) workstations don't need to be permanently assigned IP addresses,
which would mean having to keep track of all IPs allocated.
As it turns out, this method has some serious flaws. It would be
preferable
to have permanently allocated IP addresses, so that a particular machine
can
always be tracked. If the IP address of a device is subject to change, it
attains a measure of anonymity which is a security risk. The other
problem
is that the way TCP/IP routes packets is that a local network must
consist
of IP addresses in a contiguous range. It cannot have a hotpotch of IPs.
That would have to change. System administrators would have to specify
(individually) all the IP addresses in their local network
Babes, my arse is so covered, it's pathetic.

A Brief History Of Computers
Long ago, in the days when all disks flopped in the breeze and the writing
of words was on a star, the Blue Giant dug for the people the Pea Sea. But
he needed a creature who could sail the waters, and would need for support
but few rams.
So the Gateskeeper, who was said to be both micro and soft, fashioned a
Dosfish, who was small and spry, and could swim the narrow sixteen-bit
channel. But the Dosfish was not bright, and could be taught few new tricks.
His alphabet had no A's, B's, or Q's, but a mere 640 K's, and the size of
his file cabinet was limited by his own fat.
At first the people loved the Dosfish, for he was the only one who could
swim the Pea Sea. But the people soon grew tired of commanding his line, and
complained that he could be neither dragged nor dropped. "Forsooth," they
cried. "the Dosfish can only do one job at a time, and of names, he knows
only eight and three." And many of them left the Pea Sea for good, and went
off
in search of the Magic Apple.
Although many went, far more stayed, because admittance to the Pea Sea was
cheap. So the Gateskeeper studied the Magic Apple, and rested awhile in the
Parc of Xer-Ox, and he made a Window that could ride on the Dosfish and do
its thinking for it. But the Window was slow, and it would break when the
Dosfish got confused. So most people contented themselves with the Dosfish.
Now it came to pass that the Blue Giant came upon the Gateskeeper, and spoke
thus: "Come, let us make of ourselves something greater than the Dosfish."
The Blue Giant seemed like a humbug, so they called the new creature OZ II.
Now Oz II was smarter than the Dosfish, as most things are. It could drag
and drop, and could keep files without becoming fat. But the people cared
for it not. So the Blue Giant and the Gateskeeper promised another OZ II, to
be called Oz II Too, that could swim the fast new 32-bit wide Pea Sea.
Then lo, a strange miracle occurred. Although the Window that rode on the
Dosfish was slow, it was pretty, and the third Window was the prettiest of
all. And the people began to like the third Window, and to use it. So the
Gateskeeper turned to the Blue Giant and said, "Fie on thee, for I need thee
not. Keep thy OZ II Too, and I shall make of my Window an Entity that will
not need the Dosfish, and will swim in the 32-bit Pea Sea."
Years passed, and the workshops of the Gateskeeper and the Blue Giant were
overrun by insects. And the people went on using their Dosfish with a
Window; even though the Dosfish would from time to time become confused and
die, it could always be revived with three fingers.
Then there came a day when the Blue Giant let forth his OZ II Too onto the
world. The Oz II Too was indeed mighty, and awesome, and required a great
ram, and the world was changed not a whit. For the people said, "It is
indeed great, but we see little application for it." And they were doubtful,
because the Blue Giant had met with the Magic Apple, and together they were
fashioning a Taligent, and the Taligent was made of objects, and was most
pink.
Now the Gateskeeper had grown ambitious, and as he had been ambitious before
he grew, he was now more ambitious still. So he protected his Window Entity
with great security, and made its net work both in serving and with peers.
And the Entity would swim, not only in the Pea Sea, but in the Oceans of
Great Risk. "Yea," the Gateskeeper declared, "though my entity will require
a greater ram than Oz II Too, it will be more powerful than a world of
Eunuchs."
And so the Gateskeeper prepared to unleash his Entity to the world, in all
but two cities. For he promised that a greater Window, a greater Entity, and
even a greater Dosfish would appear one day in Chicago and Cairo, and it too
would be built of objects.
Now the Eunuchs who lived in the Oceans of Great Risk, and who scorned the
Pea Sea, began to look upon their world with fear. For the Pea Sea had
grown, and great ships were sailing in it, the Entity was about to invade
their oceans, and it was rumored that files would be named in letters
greater than eight. And the Eunuchs looked upon the Pea Sea, and many of
them thought to immigrate.
Within the Oceans of Great Risk were many Sun Worshippers, and they wanted
to excel, and make their words perfect, and do their jobs as easy as
one-two-three. And what's more, many of them no longer wanted to pay for the
Risk. So the Sun Lord went to the Pea Sea, and got himself eighty-sixed.
And taking the next step was He of the NextStep, who had given up building
his boxes of black. And he proclaimed loudly that he could help anyone make
wondrous soft wares, then admitted meekly that only those who know him could
use those wares, and he was made of objects, and required the biggest ram of
all.
And the people looked out upon the Pea Sea, and they were sore amazed. And
sore confused. And sore sore. And that is why, to this day, Ozes, Entities,
and Eunuchs battle on the shores of the Pea Sea, but the people still travel
on the simple Dosfish.
