As someone else stated just today, this is *****. There is no
difference between something that does not exist at all and one that
exists, but never interacts with the real world. Anything that *does*
youre assuming the -real world- or even the universe is the entirety
if there is a beyond it is perfectly reasonable for outside observer
to look within the universe and observe its activities
and make decisions outside the universe concerning it
in science its called doing an experiment
interact with the real world is observable, and therefor *can* be
youre assuming the interaction is perceptible
examined, so cannot be "supernatural", by definition. It also means it
science makes unprovable assumptions about the nature of the universe
events that appear to violate these assumptions are often labelled supernatural
whether they are true violations is undecided
isn't impossible to examine scientifically, as much as some people love
to make silly statements that its possible for something to a) exist, b)
cause real effects in the world, and c) be completely undetectible by
any sciences.
science makes unprovable assumptions about the nature of the universe
these force a perception filter (like any other belief system)
and can prevent perceptions of events contrary to the belief system
Umm, no, I state this as a proven fact. There is no case where science
and religion cross where one or the other doesn't *lose*. Usually its
for your political needs you want there to be a conflict
therefore you perceive a conflict
this is an example of how your belief system filters perceptions
people who are not looking for a conflict dont see one
homeopathy and HIV denial do. And it is about territory. If it wasn't,
we wouldn't be so damn worried about them constantly trying to push
young earth creationism as scientific fact in class rooms.
yes it is about political territory
you decided you cannot achieve political power within a church hierarchy
therefore you will create a new political hierarchy
and attempt to control society with that
if you werent interested in dictating beliefs to other people
you wouldnt be concerned with other peoples religions
btw youre making the classical atheist blunder of assuming creationism
is christian dogma instead of what it is - a political maneuver
Let me ask you this. When was the last time that you have heard **any**
major church stating, "We want all sides taught, so next week we insist
that every church in the world lets scientists speak about their version
of the truth in churches."? Never. But **everyone** is *expected* to
you need to visit more churches
seriously
your view of whats going on in churches is seriously distorted
by tv from the pagan right
pander to the religious messages, no matter how extreme they are or
its rather silly to go onto private property every sunday and wednesday
just to rant at the property owners that their view of reality is wrong
on the other hand if you want a serious rational discussion
quite a few churches would be interested
for one thing you would learn that your dogma is wrong
not all churches assume the bible is literally true
more importantly many churches dont spend their entire time
on a few chapters of genesis
rather they spend much of their time on things like the gospels
or leviticus or judges
amd are for more concerned about the relation between god and humans
than the nature of this world
when they camp out on *my* front lawn and insist its *their right* to do
so. If they won't stop crossing the damn line and trying to take
put up a no trespassing sign and call the police
if they enter your private property without permissions
(nearly all churches in the usa are on private property)
But that is always the answer isn't it. We are not being nice enough.
They can say we don't deserve to be Americans, that we don't have
and you? you want to deny people first amendment rights
morals, that we should be put in camps like the Jews where, that we have
no rights, that only their path is the right one. We ask nicely for them
to leave science to scientists and stop trying to force their beliefs on
us and its, "Unfair!", "Persecution!", "A conspiracy to destroy their
beliefs!", etc., etc. It doesn't matter if we ask nicely that they don't
staple propaganda to our front door or we *stridently* tell them to *****
off. *We* are the ones crossing the line. We are the ones persecuting
people. We are the ones trying to destroy things. We are the ones
conspiring.
nice froth
so are you saying people like einstein or galileo or lemaitre
should not have been allowed to do physics?
that they made a slight mistake in what they thought some scientific
theory said. In every case they @##@$@#$ deleted me, having never onces
if theyre deleting your nntp posts call their isp
if theyre editting their own web pages tough luck
people are not required to provide you a forum at their expense
do your own site
You want to argue with someone about how ***** I have become due to
this constant attitude problem they have and the tendency to otherwise
speaking of constant attitude problem
pkb
rational people that happen to share the same religion to kiss the asses
of these people *before* they will lift a finger to defend anyone that
doesn't, then complain to these people:
you attack core of what an entire group of people believe
and you then whine because you cant peel off some of the group to join you?
gee i wonder why
I am not the problem. I am just one of a number of people that are sick
and tired of the fact that they can do any damn thing they want, tell
any lie, express any opinion, etc, as long as it includes "God" some
i am just one person often alone
who is sick and tired of atheists pretending they are so logical and rational
and scientific
and then ***** all over logic and rational thought and science
in their religious bigotry
Maybe you are blind to this. Maybe you just don't want to see it. But
people like me have been on the down stream end of endless lies,
demonization, fear mongering and attacks since someone dared suggest
no of course not
i have absolutely no conception of what that feels like
wanker
that maybe Zues wasn't all that great after all. They have 99.9% of
society stacked in their favor, and all they do is whine and cry about
how **I** and people like me are some huge threat to everything from
puppies and kittens to the country we both live in.
i will give you a tip if you can calm down enough to listen
you have no right to tell people what they can believe
you do have some rights to tell people what they can do
stop worrying about what people believe
find allies whose interests are not controlling peoples beliefs
but whose interests are in running a society free of dogma and oppression
along the way you will discover that many evol theists and polytheists
and paratheists are perfectly happy to ally with you
for the promotion of a free society
if that includes their own freedom to follow their own conscience
I don't think the 80% of people that are religious are dangerous in and
of themselves, and their beliefs are no more a threat to me than someone
see your problem is that you choose to be threatened by peoples beliefs
beliefs dont do a thing to you - only actions
meow arf meow - they are performing horrible experiments in space
major grubert is watching you - beware the bakalite
impeach the ***** - the airtight garage has you neo
