What Church Should Be Constitutionally
Separated from the State?
Samuel G. Dawson

The distinction between a local church, the universal church, . . .

Ummm, what "universal church"???

. . . and
denominations is at the heart of the controversy over the separation of
church and state, . . .

Nope.

. . . which in our time has come to be the separation of
religion and state, . . .

Yep. IIRC, that's the words the Founders used: "Religion". Not "Church".
I'm not sure where I read it, but I think it may have been in the (amended)
Constitution somewhere (FWIW, the _unamended_ Constitution used "religious",
not "church-affiliated", "church-sponsored", or "church-approved". . . .).

. . . or even the separation of morality and state. . . .

Nope.

. . . This
article discusses the separation of church and state with focus on "church,"
showing that no legitimate church is entanged with the state.

Ummm, I may well agree with that, but not for the reasons you
imagine. ;-)
[snip nonsense]
