A loved one has disclosed his homosexuality to the family.
How does the family respond to this devastating news?
What devastating news?

Um... that somebody in your family is a "reverend" maybe?

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then where does evil come from?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?

The devastating news that will shock the neighbors, scandalize the
church, corrupt the puppy and make the community gossip about them. To
Hell (literally) with the kid's trauma of coming out to such parents;
the devastation to the family's social standing is far more important.

Social standing is always more important to Christian fundamentalists than
other human beings. Far, far more important...
