There was no star of Bethlehem. Figment of people's imagination.

It's a made up story written long after the kid was born.

Not only that, the shepherds wouldn't be tending to sheep in Judea that time
of year.
But 'hate' the fictional 'star of Bethlehem'? Whooooh. Somebody's been
hittin' the Jesus juice a little early this year, don't you think?

I'm not a religious guy, but there is evidence that a rare alignment of four
planets coincided with a lunar eclipse right around the birth of Jesus
timeframe. This was in the spring of 6 BC. The astrophysicists know the
exact date and time. There were coins minted in the region to commemorate
the event, which would have seemed spectacular for that time and place The
reason we use December 25th was a papal decree intended to head off support
for an event the church deemed pagan.

And, such a well-remembered event would be prime for
usage by those who created the Jesus myth.
