i thought 'atheists' just dont beleive in god

Pretty much...

if so, why do you need a badge?

(looks down at self... realizes that self needs to lose weight, but sees

no

badge)

why not just 'not beleive'

That kind of just comes naturally.

But I get the gist of what you're saying from your other posts. You think
that because we call ourselves atheists, we are wearing a badge.
But you don't believe in gods...

Okay simple rules:
atheist = doesn't believe in gods
theist = believes in gods

that sort of makes sense - so 'theist' describes the whoooooooooole group of
people who believe in 'a' god (irespective of their particular religion)? is
that right?
and the inclusion of the 'a' in 'a-theist' is a like an inert 'theist' - as
in 'a-political' would describe someone without any political conviction ?
so the word "athiest" is derived (as opposed to being created)
