Why does Jesus pray to God?
I'm testing the validity of Christianity by testing the logic of the
Trinity.
Since Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God are one, why does Jesus pray to
God? Why does God pray to God? Why does Jesus pray to God when God
knows all of the answers, and...
Why does Jesus need to pray, when he sees all and hears all and knows
whats going to happen anyway? None of this makes sense!
Hello,
Yes, that would be true if the post-biblical Trinity doctrine was
correct. But the Bible shows that Jesus was not God. To make it brief
here, Jesus was created by God. But God always existed thus they can't
be the same person. Here is what not men, but what the BIBLE says
about it. Col 1:15,
"He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all
creation." (NASB) [brackets mine]
Ps 90:2,
"Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the
world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God." (NIV)
The Bible refers to Jesus as God's Son. (Mt 27:43) You are your
father's son. Does that make you your father? Of course not, and
neither is Jesus his Father.
Thus Jesus prays to God because God created him, and Jesus always
wants to do his Fathers will, not his own. Joh 6:38,
"For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will
of him who sent me."
Sincerely, James

Where is it stated that Jesus prays to God, not prayed, prays?
Having trouble sticking to the subject?

Yes, it's complicated... but look at it this way: The Son is an aspect
of the Father. The Son is obedient to the Father, though He knows fear
and doubt. "...but let thy will be done, not mine." In this model, God
knows those qualities that He would not otherwise be able to if he were
a monolithic 'all-powerful' deity. The Triune God knows obedience,
fear, doubt and true love. He is truly, completly, 'omniscient'
all-knowing, as well as all-powerful.

Look for God referring to Himself in the plural in: Genesis 1:26, 3:22,
11:27, and 16:7-13. Also in Exodus 3:2-14, where He even uses two
names.
"He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all
creation." (NASB) [brackets mine]
'Image' is the pivotal word here.
Ps 90:2,
"Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the
world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God." (NIV)
The Bible refers to Jesus as God's Son. (Mt 27:43) You are your
father's son. Does that make you your father? Of course not, and
neither is Jesus his Father.
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been
given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of
all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son
and the Holy Spirit." (Matt 28:18-19)
Clear as mud, I suppose.
"After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and
behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God
descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of
the heavens said, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.'"
(Matt. 3:16-17)
"The angel answered and said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon
you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that
reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.'" (Luke 1:35)
"...but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works,
so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in
the Father." (John 10:38)
"...for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the
Father." (Ephesians 2:18)
The clues are everywhere in the Bible.
