Christians are *tolerant* of all religions and beliefs. Christians
cannot and never will "honor" Wicca, for example.

Cometh the hour, cometh "Steven L." <sdlitvin@earthlinkNOSPAM.net>
who, with imperceptibly subtle footwork in alt.atheism, gave us this:

Christians are *tolerant* of all religions and beliefs. Christians
cannot and never will "honor" Wicca, for example.

Christians are tolerant of cognitive dissonance. The above statement
(and the fact they think the Bible is consistent, let alone inerrant )
proves that.

If they were tolerant they wouldn't proselytise, try to impose their
religion, etc.

Christians are *tolerant* of all religions and beliefs.

Providing that they are xtian.
Kinda like Henry Ford; "Any colour you like, so long as it is black", so with
xtians, "Any religion you like, so long as it is xtian".

Christians
cannot and never will "honor" Wicca, for example.

Or Muslims, or Hindus, or Janes, or Buddhists, etc, etc, etc.

Obviously.
Most religions, Christianity included, assume that they have the one way
to ultimate truth. How can they be expected to "honor" what they
consider to be untruths?
The only religious sect I know of that accepts that there may be
multiple paths to God, and multiple paths to revealed truth, are the
Unitarian Universalists.

Actually, there is only ONE xtian religion, or sect if you will, that
does respect the beliefs of others, and probably has the highest level
of tolerance.
The Quakers. (there's that soft spot of mine showing again).
The Quakers live by the belief that, "there is that of god in
everyone.", so they really don't worry about what you or I believe or
preach, or what that fat man on the boob tube screams about every day.
You also won't have Quakers ringing your door bell on Saturday mornings,
while you are trying to sleep in. They don't push their belief onto
others at all.
Second, they don't judge anyone. They truly reserve judgment for god,
since that god is the only one that can judge. And since they believe
concept 1 above, they also believe it would be wrong to judge god, in
anyone.
Third, they are not loud, flashy, full of themselves, out to change the
world because it ain't the way we like it, people. Quakers work
quietly, with everyone, within the law, and without calling attention to
themselves. When the Quakers see a social injustice, they work with the
lawmakers to correct that injustice, they don't try to remove those
lawmakers and put their own people in that place. And if the law will
not change, then the Quakers will take quite action, behind the law.
Prior to, and during the Civil War, Quakers helped run The Under Ground
Railroad to the north, for fleeing slaves. They could not get the law
changed, so they did what they felt was right, with out the law.
If I ever go insane again, let my insanity be with the Quakers again.
If it ever comes down to a point where the US REQUIRES me to have a
religion, I know where I'll be going, back to the Quakers.
Or one of those sex based, the aliens started it, and we're waiting for
the mother ship, cults. :-D

Why not honor Wicca? Christianity has as much superstition, myth,
magic and imbecilic ritual as any form of witchcraft. And concerning
tolerance, I don't recall much in the history books about witches
organizing pogroms. Oh right, those were Christians that did that.
