Re: Why I am an Atheist |

Because of Christians. Yes, thats exactly why. Not because of what they
dont do, but what they do. Christians who think you go to hell because
you arent christian. Christians find a way to justify anything,
including breaking the 10 commandments: "God told me to do it"
"ooohhh... God told me to kill all gays"
What the hell is wrong with people like that.
And I salute Christians who honor all religions and beliefs, and who
are willing to accept people for who they are.
I think reaction against people you don't like is a pretty poor reason
to take a strong position at the opposite end of the spectrum.

It may be a poor reason, but it's an entirely human reaction. We're not
Vulcans, we're human beings.

If I understand the poster correctly, then what you say isn't entirely
correct in the context of their reply. They seem to be saying that if
- just for instance, nothing about you or me - if you happen to not
like black people, that is no reason to become a cross-burning,
lynch-mob rousing klansman. You can dislike black people and not go
to extremes about it. Or if you don't like Christians, that's no
reason to become a baby-killing Satanist. It's not just a matter of
opposing that which you dislike - that's the "natural" part - it's a
matter of not only opposing it, but deliberately advocate for an
extreme opposing view just because of that dislike, and not because
you actually believe in that view. That type of extreme knee-jerk
reaction happens far too often, but it's still not really all that
typical for human behavior.
But I may have misunderstood.

I wouldn't argue that we aren't human, but a man can learn to reason
rather than react.
