Reckless biker caught on YouTube
A motorcyclist has been charged with reckless and dangerous driving
after his high-speed stunts were posted on the YouTube website.
Officers were stunned after seeing clips of the 34-year-old Edinburgh
man driving at speeds averaging 112 mph.
The man is also seen doing wheelies and driving at 170mph in East
Lothian at the end of last year.
Police traced the man after detailed study of the clips. A report is
being submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Riding a Yamaha R1, he is said to have covered the distance between
Longniddry and North Berwick in just seven minutes, at speeds averaging
112 mph in certain sections.
He is also said to have been seen accelerating from rest to high speeds
in first gear, performing wheelies and flooring a Honda Fireblade
motorbike to its maximum speed of 170 mph along St Germains, the dual
carriage running between Prestonpans and Longniddry, on a wet day.
After detailed examination of the YouTube footage, Lothian and Borders
Police officers and staff from the force's forensic computer unit were
able to trace the man.
Ch Insp Kenny Buchanan of Lothian and Borders Police road policing
branch said: "Driving at break-neck speeds along public roads is
completely unacceptable and extremely dangerous.
'Serious consequences'
He said: "Allowing footage of it to be posted on a public website is a
sure-fire way of getting caught.
"Thanks to the clips on the website, we were able to clearly identify
the rider of the bike, and stop him in his tracks.
"We urge this to be a lesson to other drivers who foolishly believe that
stunts like these are good entertainment.
"They are not, they are dangerous and could result in very serious
consequences, certainly for yourself, if not some other innocent member
of the public."
It is thought that this is one of the highest speeds ever recorded by
Lothian and Borders Police.
Police are investigating another complaint about a car being driven at
more than 100mph in East Lothian, footage of which was also posted on
the YouTube website.

There was a bunch of girls that filmed themselves beating the ***** out of
some poor defenseless classmate - I think it was posted on Youtube. All
expelled from school (except for the victim, of course).

story:
One night he received a call from the bank's security team,

been compromised. When he arrived, he found that the door
to the building had been forced open, but that thief -- who
apparently believed the money in ATMs is sits on a counter
somewhere, and thus expected easy pickings -- was foiled by
the fact that the cash was of course locked inside a very
secure safe. Still, the thief did take the VCR used for
surveillance of the ATM.
A week later, the state police found a VCR in a ditch
alongside a local highway. Sure enough, it was the VCR from
the ATM. Police returned the unit to the bank. Upon
inspecting the VCR, technicians discovered that the tape
was still inside and intact. On the tape was a video of
not-too-bright-looking man peering slowly around the side
of the building, then ducking back, then inching around the
corner again, then looking directly into the camera, then
checking the scene for witnesses, then disappearing from
camera view toward the ATM door. The tape was shown to the
police, upon which all officers present burst into
laughter, several officers saying at once, "Oh, we know
HIM."

Circa 1980 wnen I still lived in England, the central Post Office in
Manchester had an ATM in the outside wall.
The safe behind it was in a public, occasionally staffed room for
stamp collectors, inquiries etc

I doubt that was a Ferrari and I doubt that he got anywhere near 140 mph.
The engine sounds seem like they were dubbed in after the fact as well. My
doubts led me to do a quick search on the director and he has apparently
stated that he filmed it while driving his Mercedes w/ camera mounted.
Still makes for some good film though. Ferrari or not.
