Thois legislation dictates that the President end the war by withdrawing
troops by a certain date. Interesting to see his reaction if it passes. I am
sure he will veto it.
The President is Commander in Chief of the military. The only constitutional
way to end the war is by impeachment. That has to start in the Hose of
Representatives.

The power for war rests in the legislature. The
despot in the White House, however, thinks (as
you apparently do as well) that his role as
"Commander in Chief" gives him authority to use
the military however he pleases whenever he
pleases.

ANd impeaching the bastards might take the wind out of their sales.

That's a myth. Commander-in-chief is part of being the executive and
*excuting* the law. The power to declare war is with Congress. Congress
may defer to the executive in times of war but there's no reason they
must.
Also, we've defunded wars before. It was no big thing before, why is it
now? Because Bush thinks he's a king maybe?

I heard about that today. I'm glad that the Democrats are starting to
show a little fight. If it passes, it will probably be vetoed but it
will at least show the people that Congress is willing to stand up to
the little chickenhawk-in-chief. Hopefully it might get some more
Republicans to change their minds too.

I heard that there's a possibility that they might
have enough votes to override the veto. That's
why the Rethugs are trying to set up a filibuster.
They are trying to stop their own people from
voting against Bush.

I believe that as the war's and Bush's popularity decline, more GOP
senators may be inclined to vote that way. Especially the ones up for
reelection next year.
