Religion of love? |
Can anybody think of a good example of any religion that can be
considered a "religion of love?"

Quakers.
I could never be one, as I cannot accept pacifism in all situations,
but I admire them. I am intrigued by their belief that you get closer
to God when everyone stops talking & thinks quietly rather than having
one person at a pulpit ranting for an hour about sin, & everyone else
fidgeting. They don't assume that God has already said all He'll ever
say, & now all that remains is the coming battle. They seem to worry
more about misunderstanding God than offending him.
I believe they were the first American religious group to oppose
Southern slavery.
Finally, Quakers don't kill their kids because Satan told them to in
their heads, or gather in herds around an image of the Virgin Mary
formed by coffee grounds at the bottom of someone's wastebasket. They
seem to have an excellent child-of-God/loon ratio, with Nixon being the
obvious outlier.
