Remember Paul Hill! |
Now that the violence genie is out of the bottle,
how long do you think it'll be before America's
Christian-Right starts knocking each other off?
Me? Earlier I predicted that we'll be seeing
a "Christian" suicide bomber within five years.
My guess is that the first violence between
rival Jesus warriors comes shortly after that.
And, yeah, I know that Paul Hill is far from the
first man in recent times to murder for Jesus.
Why I say the violence genie has been released
now, and not earlier, is because of both his
wide-spread appeal as an anti abortion "martyr,"
as well as the timing of his execution... coming
post 9/11... with troops in action over seas...
the economy lending itself to social instability,
xenophobia and a generic "fear."
Less wordy:
The social & political climate in which Paul
Hill has been executed has lent power to his
voice and credibility to his cause.
At a time that Americans are constantly being
told that they're threatened -- even as we have
legitimate reasons for concern -- Paul Hill not
only identifies the enemy, the threat, but he
gives people the means by which to deal with it.
Over reacting?
What are the odds that the government taking a
proactive stance against Christian terrorism
wouldn't offend a great many "Christian" voters?
What political party is associated most closely
with American "Christian" politics, and the
anti abortion movement in particular?
Which party is currently in power?
Having declared war on the left & back-stabbed
the middle, the Republicans wouldn't offend their
right.... not even if by some miracle they wanted
to.

Why would we see that? We already know how good wacko xians are at just
plain bombing things.
