See, teaching kids the truthm science, and giving them an education
so that they can compete in the real world -- that's "of Satan" and
as such must be avoided.

Texas Board of Education quits national group

AUSTIN --
The Texas Board of Education voted Thursday to withdraw from the
National Association of State Boards of Education, the only national
group that helps strengthen state board leadership in education
policymaking.
Texas board members snubbed the organization, also known as NASBE, for
two reasons: what at least one board member called a "liberal" agenda,
and the $40,000 association dues the board's Republican members say
are too high.
"They're taking policy positions that I believe the majority of our
board members here don't agree with," said board member Terri Leo,
R-Spring.
"(And) it costs an enormous amount of money."
NASBE Executive Director Brenda Welburn was surprised to hear the
organization characterized as liberal.
NASBE's current president is a Republican from Utah.
Both the incoming president and the president-elect are also
Republicans, Welburn said.
