Networks face quandary over Saddam execution
By Steve Gorman
Reuters

CBS News Vice President Paul Friedman all but ruled
out showing footage of Saddam's hanging, saying, "I
personally believe it is beyond the pale to show
executions."
VERSUS
TERENCE SMITH: Last Sunday, the CBS Newsmagazine "60
Minutes" aired a story that showed Dr. Jack Kevorkian
administering a lethal injection to Thomas Youk, a
52-year-old Michigan man suffering from Lou Gehrig's
disease.

It is worth noting that the people who are said to be earning "obscene"
amounts of money are usually corporate executives. There is no such
outrage whipped up when Hollywood movie stars make some multiple of what
most corporate executives make.

It speaks volumes that they can't see the difference.

Go ahead, pretend Cheney and Rummy don't comprise your two-person God.

So? CNN didn't have any problem with showing Jihadi sniper videos of
them shooting American soldiers, but they also decided that showing
Saddam's hanging would be too much for their sensitive viewers.

Sniper videos? CNN? Well, I guess if you have no counter argument it's a
good idea to change the subject to something completely different.

I don't care either way if we have a death penalty. However, if we do, I
agree that it should be public. It is a public act. Except for a few
areas, such as national security, we should strive for transparency for all
government actions. People should see the consequences of the laws we pass
and make their voting decisions accordingly.
