No, they aren't. If you'd listened to the entire end
after the sentence got cut off, they tell where to
go to hear the entire debate.

At 15:12 minute mark in the 52:54 indicated audio debate, "Kate" of
KPFC clearly confesses to the audio as being EXCERPTS.
It *IS* edited.
It is *NOT* the full debate.
That said, Sam Harris is clearly near his best (which is manifestly
excellent and adult).
Chris Hedges is clearly near his best (which is appallingly
depressingly gullible and cloyingly repulsive).
"Truthdig" quite simply ARE hiding something.
If you are able to point me to the unedited debate, I would appreciate
the gesture.

Play the end of the debate when the announcer comes on.
She says where the whole thing is. Why do you think they
are hiding something?

I have no idea if they are hiding something, but the announcer never
says where the whole thing is. He (not she) says "For information
about hearing the entire audio" we should "check the Truthdig
website." I did so. The website offers the following:
***************************************************************
Truthdig Debate Highlights
Posted on Jun 6, 2007
On May 22, Sam Harris and Chris Hedges debated religion and politics in
Los Angeles. Here is a condensed audio version of the event, broadcast
on KPFK¹s ³Beneath the Surface² with Suzi Weissman.
A Note to our readers: we are in no way holding back the unedited
version of the debate. It has always been our intention to release as
much of the debate as is available to us at any given time. We
understand that many of you wished to be there and can¹t wait to listen
to the whole thing. We appreciate your continued patience.
***************************************************************
Now, if I have missed something, I'd love to be corrected.
I don't see easily why it takes less time to edit an audio file and
post it than it does to post it unedited. But there might be a good
reason.

She says where the whole thing is. Why do you think they
are hiding something?

Because she *repeats* (at around the 45 minute mark) the admission
that it is a compilation of excerpts.
Can I make it plainer than that?
Or are we listening to a different thing?
Are you suggesting that the broadcaster does NOT say that it the
broadcast is edited?

I never said that. What I said was that she tells you where

I have been to where she suggested, to no avail.
(As have a score or more of others complainants, it seems.)

written this three times, now. If I'm remembering that
incorrectly, I'm sorry. I know that the broadcast we heard

trying to start an argument?

I am sorry if I sounded as though I was angry with you.
I understand that you said what you did with the best of intentions,
and regret that my anger with Truthdig spilled over on to you.
You have my most abject and humble apology.

And, you still haven't said why you
think they are trying to hide something.

Because Truthdig have had the video of the debate for over a fortnight
now, and *keep* publically promising to release the unedited version,
but keep failing to do so, despite enormous pressure.
How hard can it be to NOT edit a debate?
Something is rotten in Denmark, I tell thee, and I suspect that
truthdig are not living up to their charter.
