Schiavo Legal Fight Could Be Nearing End

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - It's been 15 years since Terri Schiavo's heart
stopped beating for several minutes, causing severe brain damage that put
her into what doctors call a persistent vegetative state. For almost
seven of those years, her husband Michael has been fighting to stop her
feedings, arguing that she didn't want to be kept alive artificially.

I don't know about you, but I would not want my thoughtless husk of a
body kept alive like hers has been. It's not fear of pain and suffering,
because that is a function of a conscious brain, and she has none. I
would not want hundreds of thousands of dollars spent in such a worthless
fashion when there are children doing without. I would not want my
family left with such a burden, unable to move forward with their lives.
