New Salem, South Dakota -- Flushed with the success of their recent
legislation to outlaw abortion, Senate conservatives moved Monday to
draft legislation that prescribes capital punishment for people convicted
of "ye witchcraft and other black arts".
Senator Malleus, R-Rapid City, stated emphatically, "The bible teaches,
'you shall not suffer a witch to live'. For too long, the liberal court
system has obstructed us from exercising this solemn and Godly duty, but
we believe that the new Supreme Court will finally take our side on
this issue."

"It is fashionable to wax apocalyptic about the
threat to humanity posed by the AIDS virus, 'mad cow'
disease, and many others, but I think a case can be
made that faith is one of the world's great evils,
comparable to the smallpox virus but harder to
eradicate." -- Richard Dawkins

Yes, otherwise known as the "Endangered Species, Rapist Protection Act".
I mean, the genes of rapists were almost dying out in the gene pool
because women were thwarting God's holy will by aborting the fetuses of
their attackers. Far-sighted public officials apparently decided to take
the initiative to make sure that there will always be a steady supply of
rapists to prey on women in the great state of Mississippi..

And don't forget incest. Apparently much of the banjo picking political
leadership of Mississippi is the product of incest? This would explain them
wanting to ensure a continuous supply of births from incestuous behavior by
banning abortion even in the case of incest.

It wasn't my idea. It's either that or burning Christians, Nero style.
Unfortunately, Christians are the majority of registered voters in the
state.

Well, I really *did* spend a couple of years in the tiny town of
New Salem, PA when I was a lad.
I don't recall any witch-burnings, but the locals did throw one
hell of a drunken fundraiser for the volunteer fire company
every year, though I was far too young to take advantage of the
party.
But come to think of it, I was indeed put in fear for my life at
one of those events: I, a mere child of eight years, won the
big, fancy new television set at the bingo game -- on the first
dime-card I purchased. I thought those old babushka grannies,
who'd been playing all night, were going to tear me limb from
limb.

Snippet from where? I want a link that I can share!

Gee, I forget where I found it now ... I think it was a forwarded email
from some dude named Jason Blair. I'll check and get back to you. ;)

In any case, I have made a few modifications and posted it to share...

Nice. ;) I'm glad to see that another journalist was able to <ahem>
independently *confirm* the story and update it with newly emerging
details.

Somehow I doubt that the senator trying to push that idiocy just _happens_
to bear the name "Malleus"... ;)
(For those who may not know, "The Handbook of witch-burning" in medieval
times bore the title "Malleus maleficarum", "The hammer of witches"...)
